4.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
The abundance of enjoyment from this unique beer lies in its taste, a malty sweetness with its hazelnut flavor with notes of spice. The combination is like comfort food, perfect for a rainy day.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle at the Jim goes to Malaysia tasting, Den Haag. From Beer Koning Amsterdam. Poured a murky day brown with a frothy tan head. The aroma is medicinal hop. The flavour is light sour with a light hazelnut, bubbly, medicinal palate. Moderate to light bodied with lively carbonation. Not sure if this is infected. Really canít decide.

Had on tap with Kara and andy at some place that had 2 big stone cats out front. Pours dark brown with amber hue. Small foamy head leaves some lace. Aroma is chocolate, hazelnut and booze. Flavor is influenced by the rum barrels.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
"first (IMHO) in the john john series that was NOT significantly better than the base beer used. i donít know if rum just isnít the right barrel or what, but this one actually fell short of the hazelnut brown, and at twice the price. wood, vanilla, and some hazelnut (though somehow less than is present in either the brown ale or the rum). too simple and thin bodied for a barreled beer. not bad, but DEFINITELY not worth the price. shouldnít have bothered with this one."

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Interesting color... like a faint dark reddish brown. Small fizzy beige head, dissipating to a ring around the glass. This has been sitting for awhile and the character has mellowed. Still has a nice nutty hazelnut, just not as pungent as the base. Brittle caramel. Cracker. Finish is moderately nutty dry and a little sweet. Fuller light bodied. The tiniest hint of rum barrelNot bad aí tall.
