The flavor is medium body, a bit nutty and woody; hard to describe...just good! There’s also a sweet, almost fruity finish. I really like this one!

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 10, 2009 PIB 2009. The second John John beer I’ve tried, both really lacking barrel depth. Tasted like a more watery version of hazelnut brown with a touch of booziness to it. I thought this would make a great combo, the sweetness of the hazelnut brown with some oak and vanilla notes, but it never came together. Not sure they are leaving these beers in the barrels long enough. JaBier (1294), Capital City, Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 29, 2009 Old rating from FOBAB ’08. They didn’t have it under the same name, but description sounds the same. Pours medium brown with a minimal off-white head. Nutty, boozy and sweet nose. Not as flavorful as expected. Spicy and malty like a Christmas Ale. DJMonarch (6941), Northwich, Cheshire, England
