This is a true beer for all to endulge into. I recently visted the Rogue brewrey in Newport, OR and tryed many they had to offer, this is certainly top 3 from Rogue.

Not a very good beer out of rogue. Not pleasant tasting and something I would never get again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Undated notes: Brown and syruppy. Resiny bitter flavor. Not my thing at all.

dark muddy rusty brown with a big fine beige head, nice hop aroma on a slightly sweet carmel malt base, lots of rich hop flavor
-------- /> Date: 06/25/2004

the intense hop character has faded over the last year into a nice bitterness allowing the malt to come through with a touch of sweetness to balance it all out

Sampled at RBSG 2006- Grand Tasting. Pours dark amber with a yellow head. Thick and malty. Has a strong hoppy aroma. Flavor is milder than expected with subdued hop taste. Good beer.

22 oz bottle, 2006 RBSG, provided by kp (Thanks kp!). Pours a clear dark copper with a small whispy beige head. Aroma is quite malty with a syrupy sweetness and a fairly aggressive hoppy bitterness. Flavor is a nice mix of aged sherried malt and a fairly aggressive bitterness. Finish has a touch of smoke and moderate alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with fairly soft but active carbonation. A little thinned out due to the age, but not so much that it’s a negative thing. Overall, this has a nice aged character to it and seems like it could hold up for a while yet. Without knowing the style when tasting I would have guessed a lighter style Barley Wine, but after the fact IPA does seem to make sense.

I assume my thanks for this go out to kp. Who else around here has all the rare Rogues?? I had no idea this was an IPA but the rating suits an aged IPA well. Fleeting white head over an amber body. Malty fruit aroma. There is some sweetness underneath, but overall this is a solidly bitter beer.

A nice amber beer with a strong hop aroma. A taste of sweet malt and mild hops. A good holding bitter finsish. Not a great beer but well above average.

Bottle shared by kp: Transparent, lightly hazy copper pour has a thick, light tan head. Mild citrusy hops and earthy caramel malty presence in the aroma. Body starts with earthy caramel malt flavor balanced with a nice, dry earthy bitterness toward the finish. Seems to have aged very well. A nice, still hoppy brew.

I did not know i had a retired beer, that be cool. My notes are sloppier than those of shag. I get a burnt rust color, its like a glass full of the UT horns. I found this beer have more caramel tones than anything else. It was better than decent.

Ok now the notes are getting sloppy, but not as bad as some Ive written. A dark orange appearance with a moderate head. The flavor is hoppy with some dark fruits present. A very malty take on the style. A very good and well balanced beer.
