Waldhonig nose, slowly changing into apricot skin with a hint of celery root and canned tangerines. Fluffy palate, bisquity apricot, vanilla bean, a bit of candied orange peel. Quite a harsh bitterness at finish, there also the juniper berries show up, maybe just because, well, somewhere they must be, after all.

Bottle from Antioch. Golden yellow pour. Nose is a piney/fruity mix. Taste is a bit more to the berry fruit side than the nose, with some pine and a bit of bitter citrus. Shrug? Ok, but nothing to get again. 13.3

Light orange, almost no head but off white. Aroma is spicy, herbal with a light bitterness. Crisp, very very herbal like a salad. sweet old hops, some oranges and spices. Juniper is light thank goodness.

Barwa złota, piwo jest idealnie klarowne. Piana bardzo ładna, intensywna drobno-pęcherzykowa, stosunkowo trwała. Zapach delikatny i stonowany. I to chyba cała obecność tytułowego jałowca. Piwo wytrawne, pijalne, ale sprawia wrażenie trochę rozwodnionego (pomimo 13% ekstraktu).

Hazy orange color with nice head. Aroma is fruity, piney and a bit spicy, the berries are noticeable. Taste is resinous and fruity, sticky, spicy. Small bubbles in the carbonation. Interesting, but also reserved in its berriness, so it’s also very drinkable.

Bottle almost past its best before date. APA spiced with juniper berries, a ’fruit’ often used in old ’jenever’ here in the Low Countries, among other things, so this should smell familiar to some extent... Medium thick, snow white, moussy head with relatively good retention, colour a kind of egg yolk yellow, lightly orangey golden, with slight haze and ’strings’ of small bubbles here and there. Sweetish and restrainedly spicy aroma in which a spicy, resinous odour of juniper berries is indeed noticeable, among hints of honey, cake, melting butter, pine needles, artichoke, peanuts, canned apricot, toasted bread, freshly cut shallot, raw shellfish, minerals, unusual but not necessarily off-putting. Fruity onset, restrained and not becoming outspokenly sweet, apple peel, gooseberry, very minerally (like a soda rich in minerals), medium carbonation, strangely salty touch working its way through the whole palate; light body, smooth, with a light and subtle nutty maltiness underlying; finish is resinous and dry, pine needle-like, an effect I assume is established by the juniper berries (which, after all, are not real berries but small, modified pine cones) blending with the floral and very herbal hops. The salty touch, very subtle as in soda water, persists till the very end, accompanied by the lingering, long, sticky hop bitterness and resinous spiciness of the juniper berries. Interesting spiced beer, quenching and a bit out of the ordinary, yet very quaffable. Wonder what this tastes like fresh and from tap, and reading the other reviews here, I assume this older bottle has already lost a lot of its fruitiness.
