3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at BeerTemple. Clear pale gold pour with tenacious white head. Aroma is spicy, juniper, lots of caramel, vanilla, something a little garbage-y I can’t get around. Taste is malty, light fruitiness, sweet, same bugging off flavor as in the nose. Palate at least is nice and clean, dry, with medium carbonation.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Beer Temple. Pours clear golden with a medium off white head. Aroma of caramel malt (massive), vanilla and dough. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Almost like bourbon BA malt. With fudge. Weird lingering strangeness in the finish (juniper?). Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle (from notes). Pours a slightly hazy light golden color with a small white head. The aroma is light with biscuity character and hints of pine, juniper and citrus. The flavor has dry, biscuity malts with mild caramel sweetness. Some pine and citrus hops with mild to moderate bitterness and light juniper notes. Fairly run of the mill.

A Juniper ale is a cool concept, no doubt. The piney flavors of certain hops seems like an ideal pairing for the almost herbal, sappy taste of Juniper berries. While I thought this beer had some good flavors, I wasn’t completely sold on its execution. I like the tartness of the berry with the bitterness of the hops, but I’d like a bit more of that sappy sweetness to balance things out.

The aroma was nice on this beer, but I will start off with my number one disappointment, I never got the Juniper flavor out of this. It did have a mouth watering earthy sent and a malt sent to it, quite nice! The flavor was disappointing, but not to say I wouldn’t drink it again. Medium bitterness at the end and I could see it being a nice summer beer..

A: golden with a finger of white foam which falls nearly immediately to a broken sheet of the same with cobweb lace. Nearly murky.
S: some juniper berries. plenty of amber malts. meh.
T: Hints of juniper again, but mostly, malts. Sweet.
M: Heavy for a pale ale, low carb. Substantial slick on the finish.
O: Yeah, this is pathetic. I hate beer that is not tasty. I hate beer even more, that is not even close to it’s labels indication.
