Poured a slightly hazy golden-orange color with a sticky white head that clung to the glass and left some great lace. Pleasant flavor and aroma dominated by sprucy hops. Slightly sweet with moderate to high hop bitterness of about 7 out of 10. The malt component was subdued caramel and biscuits. Not exactly sure what juniper berries taste like, so I can’t say I really tasted any. presario (3010), Calgary, Alberta, Canada
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | May 8, 2006 Gold bronze under a soapy lasting white head. Interesting bitter fruit flavour. Too much mouth dryness and not enough sweet fruit. Perhaps juniper berries are not the correct fruit for beer. A bit of a lasting bitter leaf-paste finish. Leaves me thirstier than before I poured it. DuffMan (2786), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 2, 2006 Deep orange amber, rapidly fading head. Citrusy and fruity aomas, with a vague sweetness (sugar candy?). Gently hopped palate with just a hint of pine, mostly malt driven though. Given my limited experience with Rogue beers, I expected a dazzling display of juniper and hops, but I was wrong. was I disappointed? Actually not at all. This beer is very drinkable and enjoyable, and its subtle character grows on you as you keep drinking it. Very nice. decaturstevo (2010), decatur, Tennessee, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 28, 2006 Pours a hazy burnt gold. It has a hops and fruit aroma and taste. This beer could pass for a hefe if not for the hops. I don’t think it is a bad beer but if it were a blind tasting with no indication of style I would struggle to identify it. I could drink them all day it’s good enough to do that but I would struggle to i.d. it as a PA. freekyp (907), Thomasville, North Carolina, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 26, 2006 Interesting tight sharp carbonation makes this beer almost spritzy. Flowery hops and light slightly sweet juniper is apparent in the flavor, but not dominating. This hazy amber brew is not much to look at with a weak quickly dissipating head, but it does deliver in the flavor department. The hop laced finish is quickly, giving way to a slightly sweet lingering malty character. A would prefer this as summery brew. Doesn’t strike me as a winter seasonal, save for the fact that it has juniper berries in it. slimweebs (144), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

The juniper really shines through... I’m a big fan of gin, but the juniper flavor in a beer is just too strange for me. Sure smelled good though.
