4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 BeanDip (117) - Florida, USA - OCT 10, 2003
Beautiful looking beer. Clear and copper with a huge frothy off white head. Mostly lasting. Nice lacing. Cotton candy - sugary smell. Buttery. Citrusy hops. Sweet malty taste. Pretty heavy on the malt. Mild citrus - grapefruit hoppiness that lingers quite nicely with sugary maltiness.

Not bad. Decent color. Very good use of hops- its spicy just as advertised. I don't love pale ale to begin with but this is still pretty good.

Medium copper color. Head doesn't stick around for long. Nice aroma. Good bitter hop flavor. I am not a Pale Ale lover, but this one is tollerable. (Not flowery). What can't Rogue do well?

22oz. Bomber.Hazy honey color with standard Rogue fluffly head. Good lacing. Aroma is of hops, juniper and pacman yeast.(gotta love that pacman). Medium bodied and smooth. A tad bitter and a slight watery taste. Maybe the least favorite I've had from Rogue. Nothing like any APA's I've had yet every Rogue is a new adventure.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Cobra (1096) - In a van, down by the river, Maryland, USA - SEP 27, 2003
2002 batch. 22 oz. brown bomber bottle. No freshness date seen.
Sorry gang, this is another over-rated beer from Rogue. They should stick to their IIPA, and their Old Crusty. This stuff just doesn't cut it. Poured out a typical pale yellow, with a fast fading thin, white head. It did leave some lacing, however. Slight hops aroma when first poured, then it fades fast too. Weak malt taste, and thin mouthfeel to it as well. Slight metallic finish to it. Not the best pale ale I've ever had.
3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Verne (261) - Enumclaw, Washington, USA - SEP 1, 2003
UPDATED: MAR 27, 2004 The name almost scared me away, me being an old Frank Zappa fan and all. So I waited until the big Rogue sale before picking some of this up, at a buck a bomber what the hell. Yes its very yellow, a rich dark yellow with a perfect never ending small bubbled head. Incredible aroma, pine, grapefruit, flowers and malt. Medium bodied malty flavors some fruit and a just a wee bit of spice. The hop bitterness blends in nicely this is a balanced beer for the most part leaning just a little to the hops and spice. My rating seems higher than most and I can only wonder if the fact that this is a winter seasonal and its now late fall has anything to do with that.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 whaleman (2178) - North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 12, 2003
2002. In keeping with the urine theme, this beer looks like a sample from someone who needs a beer badly. Let's call it dark golden with a sudsy/soapy head. Fresh floral hop aroma and some underlying fruitiness. Initial flavors of malt and subtle hops are followed by a nice intriguing finish due to the juniper berries. Crisp and refreshing. This is a very nice, distinct ale that reminds me of New Belgium Loft in some ways, only better.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Slick (1971) - Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA - AUG 4, 2003
Good golden color, small white head that managed to hang around for awhile.Malty aroma with a very nice hop presence, spicy and fruity as well. The malt flavor is kind of weak but the hops definately come through loud and clear with a gentil spice that hits in the middle and slightly milder at the end of the tasting.A very smooth brew that seems to finish dry and leave a mild hoppy, spice after taste. This is definately a brew worth trying.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 mushi (18) - Corvallis, Oregon, USA - JUL 11, 2003
I'm fairly certain this is the same as Rogue's Yellow Snow. In any case, I have a 22 oz. of the Seahorse Pale Ale. As the description says, a light ale, smells citrusy. Mild and refreshing on a hot day.
2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20 FezMonkey (268) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - JUL 2, 2003
Thick head and milky yellow color. Ok taste and aftertaste. Not really my beer of choice. Hefeweizen drinkers may like it better than I did.
