Very discreet maltiness in the aroma. Medium-bodied with some malt sweetness. Discreet, hoppy finish with a vague tartness. 020606 Dough77 (773), Aurora, Illinois, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 12/20 | May 31, 2006 very mediocre beer in general. Per style I might saw its a nose above average. Pours a light golden with descent sized fluffy white head. Aroma is quite weak mostly consisting of light sweet malt, straw maybe, and a very small hint of fruit. Flavor brings out more sweet which I enjoy, as well as a light wheat and again light fruitiness. Overall a drinkable brew. nick76 (2647), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | May 22, 2006 A unique approach to the lager style. The aroma is malty and lightly hoppy. The appearance is hazy orange gold with a medium head. The flavor is really nice. It has a light citrus flavor with a grassy hop and light honey. The palate is just right. <font size=-2>Frankenkitty’s second RateBeer poem
<font size=-1>There once was a lager from Rogue
that claimed to have spoke with a brogue.
’Twas better than Harp,
but the taste wasn’t sharp...
I’m afraid Kells will ne’er be in vogue.

As expected, this was very similar to Harp, but a bit hoppier. It had a slightly crisper, more American flavor profile. It certainly did it’s job, but didn’t blow me out of the water; it ends up tasting a bit thin and has a somewhat dry mouthfeel. Cable (286), SE, Oklahoma, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 14, 2006 Sampled from bottle. Pours gold with a faint haze and is covered with a scattered, thin white head. Aroma resembles caramel apples. Flavor has a faint sweetness with apples and bready malts. Pretty clean finish. Medium-full body and moderate carbonation. An easy-drinking lager, but a bit fruity for what I was expecting. Rogue can make a great lager, but this one is just a bit plain. Sweet malts, alfalfa and straw in the aroma - nothing special. Mostly sweet with lightly toasty malts, more alfalfa and other herbal notes, a bit of lemon in the finish. Light to medium body, moderate carbonation.
