Brewed in honor of Bob Brenlin, long time friend of John Maier and Rogue’s first draft account in Seattle, where dry-hopped Saint Rogue Red became a cult classic amongst Pacific NW hop-heads! Latona 20th achieves amazing complexity by using just two ingredients. The malt, Special Aromatic, is from France and is produced for a few Belgian brewers. The hops are a new variety, Mt Rainier which grown in Oregon. This ale is highly aromatic from the eathly notes of the malt and the citrusy quality of the hops. OG = 15.6 degrees Plato, FG = 3.9 degrees Plato, IBU approx 65.

Moderate hop aroma and hp flavor. Very floral with fresh hops, balanced by dry malt. One of the better beers from Rogue in some time.

RB Bachelor Pub Crawl. Copper color with no head. Strong floral hop and caramel malt aroma. Lots of grainy flavors going on. Caramel sweetness and just a little bitterness. It’s still of the earthy and floral variety; I don’t know what kind of citrus hop they’re talking about.

Draft at Capone’s. Poured copper color wtih small foamy head. Aroma of bittering hops. Flavors of honey, fruit but overall a bit musty. The finish was crisp from the hops but really nothing close to a good IPA or APA.

Tap at Capone’s. Hazy burnt-orange color with some foamy retention. Brown sugar and toffee sweetness, with nutty, cereal like quality. Grassy/floral hops and some sourness that I can’t quite identify. Medium+ body and a mostly bitter finish.

Draft at Capones. Pours cloudy orange with a small but durable head. Aroma is dusty with some white ash. The flavor is also a bit dusty, also a bit dishtowel-ish. There’s a floral quality to it and it finishes super dry.

On tap at The Sanctuary. Undated notes. Clear dirty orange with a one finger light beige head that fades to a thick creamy film. Thick lacing. Aroma of citrusy hops (specifically orange and light tangerine), pine, sweat, cracker and biscuity malts. Flavor is the same with light paper. Also the hops get a little spicy. I also put that there is some off taste, but I didn’t elaborate. Lingering bitterness peaked at a 6 (out of 10). Light prickly carbonation with a medium body. OK brew.
