Brewed in honor of Bob Brenlin, long time friend of John Maier and Rogue’s first draft account in Seattle, where dry-hopped Saint Rogue Red became a cult classic amongst Pacific NW hop-heads! Latona 20th achieves amazing complexity by using just two ingredients. The malt, Special Aromatic, is from France and is produced for a few Belgian brewers. The hops are a new variety, Mt Rainier which grown in Oregon. This ale is highly aromatic from the eathly notes of the malt and the citrusy quality of the hops. OG = 15.6 degrees Plato, FG = 3.9 degrees Plato, IBU approx 65.

(On tap) Clear, amber golden with a creamy, off-white head. Lightly sweet caramel aroma. Fairly light body with lightly sweet caramel notes and then a hoppy, unrefined bitterness. Not really a great beer. 240307

Draught @ Brewer’s on the Bay. Pours a clear golden color with a small white head. Has a malty hoppy aroma. Sweetish malty hoppy flavor with some hints of citrus. Also some hints of caramel. Has a slightly sweetish malty hoppy citrus finish with some bitterness in the aftertaste.

Pretty solid beer. Had some on tap at Rattle n Hum. Pours a nice amber hue with a slight off-white head. Nose of hops and mild fruitiness. Flavor is well balanced between with nice malt and hop presence. Good, clean finish.

Hazy amber. Thick head. Fresh, fruity hop aroma (leaf, orchard fruit). Fruity, bitter hop. Leafy with faint berryish notes. The malts are caramelly and crystal with some chewiness. Finishes both sweet and bitter with a woody signature. I also like that I get to remember the Latona, which is one of my favourite neighbourhood beer bars in Seattle.

On tap at Green Dragon, pours a cloudy orange with a small white head. This had to be off - smelled and tasted like sucking on some of grandma’s stale butterscotch candies. I’m rating what I tasted, but I’d be willing to reconsider the rating upon another tasting, but for now... gross.

On tap at Falling Rock poured a hazy amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of carmel, fruittiness and some strange floral or herbal notes. Palte was medium bodied and smooth with a lightly astringent finish. Flavors of carmel, honey, fruittiness and some odd herbal flavor with a smooth dry bitter finish.

Sample at Rogue Brewer’s on the Bay. Pours a hazy brownish-orange color with a thin and creamy off-white head that dissipates slowly. Stringy lacing on the glass. Saaz-type aroma along with some earthy malt. Medium body with flavors of hops, malt, wood and earth. Fruity touches too. The finish is citrusy hops that lingers a bit. Above average overall.
