Draft- enjoyed this one very much. Couldn’t believe this was a lager, but should have known with the fairly clean finish and semi-fruity dry profile. Decent.

Draft at Uber. Hazy light golden. Dense, lasting white head. Big stanky wet grass nose. A little pepper and wet cotton too. Fizzy medium body. Dark earth and leaves and wet grass on the mid-palate. Stanky resinous finish. This is not the result of mastering the dark art of teutonic hop schedules. This is, in fact, a mess.

draft. pours yellow gold with a fine white head. this is a heavily hopped pils. strong bitter with some light floral citrus notes. clean palate, nice dry finish. only had a taste, so i’m curious whether the bitter mellows as you drink. this beer definitely has a strong bite on first sip. i’ll have to grab a whole bottle at some point.

Draft. Pours a hazy pale golden in color with a good sized, perfect white head. Like Rogue’s description says, the Noble hops are what this show is all about. This pilsner is truly amazing for a hop head like myself. It has a good citrusy note complemented nicely by a solid malty background. Awesome.

Tap. Pours a hazy golden with a one finger white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of grassy and floral hops with a touch of sweet pilsner malt. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness and a crisp grassy finish. Very good.

Gold pour with a medium white head. Strong hop aroma. Flavor was mainly hops and citrus with a small grainy backbone. Finished bitter. Very easy drinking. Three pints and I was thinking about a fourth...probably safe to say this one is a session beer.

On tap at the Sanctuary in Iowa City. The body was hazy dark gold with a white head. The aroma was strong pizza type herbs like oregano and fresh cut wood. The taste has some bread crust with some grapefruit rind. There was a strange bitter finish, kind of like apple core, but not that pleasant.

On draught at The Sanctuary. Clear golden with one finger white head, fading to a film before long. Some floral and light citrusy hops are up front with some biscuity malts. Flavor has some sweaty Cascades and (lilac?) flowers with not much for a malt backbone--not that the hops are crazy, there just isn?t much else. Dry floral finish with bitterness peaking around a 3. Biscuity notes do finally show up in the aftertaste. Light prickly carbonation with a light to medium body. Not too bad, but at least it?s a little off-kilter fom the last few JLS offerings.

Draft @ Frisco Grille. Pours a light hazy yellow straw color with a white head. Starchy hops with medium dryness in the nose, some pillowy yeast notes but more of a potato starch smell than a prickly-spicy yeast smell. Flavor is similar, first you notice just how full it is, then more of this sort of bland potato flavor overpowering some lighter cracker and pils malt flavors, and throughout there’s sort of a slimy olive oil flavor and texture. Not bad, the hops are strange, not exactly in line with what a pils should have, and the yeast has that sort of funky cardboard smell and taste that is sometimes found in steam beer due to the fermentation temperature… and I kinda think that when Rogue does these lagers they don’t do any lagering, even though they used a Czech pils yeast, which would explain that off flavor.

Draft @ Frisco’s. Pours a light, straw-orange color; tan white head with little retention. Pleasant dry, mineral and herbal hoppiness in the aroma; some fruitiness; a bit underwhelming. Medium mouthfeel: plenty of zesty herbal and mineral hops; some numbness on the tip of the tongue; lively (almost fizzy) carbonation; toasted bread and a touch of sugar at the core; reasonably dry, but a touch too chewy. Medium finish: toastiness and bread, mineral bitterness, some sugar.
