28-APR-2011, bottle @Cerveteca, Barcelona.
5€ at the bar for a 66cl:-)
Poured in two pint glasses, Dark, dark brown with lasting light brown head.
Very roasted with coffee(!)
A bit thin but that only makes it even more drinkable.
Fine long hoppy bitter ending.
Lovely porter that is really easy drinking. First drink ever at Cerveteca. Last visit there we had this same fantastic brew.

Rogue Mocha Porter is an inviting opaque brown with a roasted malt and fruit aroma. The flavor is roasty with a little bit of coffee and toffee, and it goes down smoothly. The flavor is a little more subdued than other porters making it very easy to drink and giving it a nice finish.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Thorpe429 (3562) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - APR 23, 2011
Bottle picked up at Total Wine in Alexandria. Served in a Hill Farmstead wine glass.
Pours near black with a thin off-white head and quite a bit of lacing as it eventually moves down. The nose brings some very dryly-roasted malt plus a bit of faint chocolate with some bold coffee in the background. The flavor has some strong roast and nothing much more than that. Very, very small amount of chocolate there as well. With the finish, the espresso and coffee from the nose begin to take over. Finish is very dry and uncompromising; it’s also quite bitter. Not a bad beer, but not something I’d go out of my way to get again.

Nice maltiness on the nose. Pours black with a thin brown head. A hell of a lot more hoppy than a typical porter which is a good thing. The hops balance out the chocolate elements. It has a nice lingering quality although I wish it had a thicker mouthfeel. Still well done.

Poured a dark brown color with a generous creamy head. Aroma of chocolate hits my senses first, with some vanilla and coffee. Taste was light sweetness and light bitterness. Medium body, creamy velvety texture, soft carbonation, bitter finish. Not a big porter fan but this was pretty good. Some coffee and chocolate in taste. Milder and smooth.

Rogue Mocha Porter: Drank out of a snifter
Pour: It pours almost pure black with no light penetrating through. It has an enormous head, somewhere around four fingers. I suppose I might have poured it a little too aggressively but either way it produced a large head. The head is comprised of mostly large bubbles, which I wasn’t expecting, and looks pretty soapy. For the most part the head seems to retain its shape for quite some time.
Aroma: Smells of delicious dark roasted malts lined with chocolate. The coffee and chocolate aspects are extremely present and lie on the forefront of the aroma.
First taste: The taste and most notably the bitterness of the coffee is on the tip of the taste. Although there is a strong bitterness there is a little bit of a sweet aspect which really helps balance and round out the flavor creating a very tasty brew. Strangely it has a nice wet mouth feel which really quenches thirst despite the lovely bitterness of the coffee notes. The taste ends with just a hint of dryness and leaves just a slight bitter after taste while still leaving you wanting more. It overall has great taste and deliciously creamy body.
After thoughts: All and all I found this beer to be extremely enjoyable. It was a hefty and refreshing porter from the guys there at Rogue. I would rate this beer around above average definitely something I would drink again.
