Sampled at Denver Winter Brewfest 2011. Dark brown, but is light enough to see through the edges. Light tan head. Aroma of chocolaty goodness, with mild notes of coffee grounds. Taste is very chocolate-porter centric, as expected. Elements of coffee kinda hit the palate in the middle/ending of the taste. It is quite good just nothing unexpected from the name. I found the body kinda lacking, though.

Deep brown body with a thick, lasting tan head. Nice aroma of coffee, bitter chocolate, and a touch of smoke. Medium mouthfeel with some decent carbonation. The flavor is not as sweet as thought it would be. It starts a bit sweet with malt and semisweet chocolate flavors. It finishes surprisingly bitter...coffee and tobacco. A pretty good beer.

Pours a pitch black, with a creamy, slowly dissipating head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, and some fruity hops. Flavor is roasted malts, coffee and hops. Flavors become more robust as this porter warms along with chocolate overtaking the other flavors. Finishes sweet with a roasted flavor lingering.

Pours nearly black with 2 fingers of creamy tan foam. The aroma is extraordinary, with dark chocolate and fresh coffee, but I wish it was stronger. I tasted coffee, chocolate, a little caramel, and a hop finish that seemed lemony. The mouthfeel isn’t quite as heavy as I expected. There’s a little sourness that lingers just a little in the aftertaste. I think this is a quality porter that had a lot more action going on than I expected.

Opaque Dark Brown with a lasting tan/white head. Aroma of chocolate and caramel malts. Also doughy yeast aroma. Mild sweetness with very strong chocolate notes. Just a hint of the coffee notes. Strong bitter finish however this bitterness mellowed out as it got warmer.

I feel like the name is a little misleading. I think it would be better classified as a mocha stout. It has more of the roasted and bitter flavors that I associate with a stout rather than a porter. And while the mocha flavors and creamy texture are there, it’s all in the finish.

Bottle. Pours an opaque brown-black with a fine-grained cinnamon head. Nose is dates, dark roast, and a touch of coffee. Rich and heady on the tongue, with espresso and toast notes; mouthfeel is crisp and prickly. Good.
