Pours dark brown with a creamy white head. The arona was weak with caramel, mocha and coffee. The mocha was the dominant factor. The taste was watery but the mocha and caramel were present The Mocha got a lliittle stronger towards the finish making this beer pretty descent but nothing special. This is not a Porter I would mgo out of my way to have again.

Deep brown to black, littlle to no head. Dark chocolate/ sourness in the aroma. Smooth mouthfeel with a nice nutty, roasty finish. The hops were a bit bitter in the finish as the beer came to temperature. Good, not great overall.

UPDATED: APR 25, 2005 bottle - 3/20/05 - The pour is pitch black, large brown head. I smell chocolate and coffee that carries over into the taste. Flavor is of deep, dark coffee/chocolate. Mostly coffee...roasted barley (?)...that lasts through to the finish with a little bitterness. Very good. I like this porter a lot.

Bottle - 650ml. Perfectly opaque black body topped with a thick beige frothy head. Strong and complex roasty/hoppy aroma with various notes of malt, coffee, dark chocolate, herbs and toffee. Taste is quite robust and dominated by a strong dry bitterness that may keep us from fully appreciating the various flavors and hints. It ends with an extremely long bitter/roasty finish. That porter definitely stands far above the average.

The bottle poured a deep (almost black) garnet liquid with a light tan, medium smooth head. The head dissipated quickly leaving a thin layer of tiny tan bubbles on the surface and some lacing on the glass. The primary aroma is of roast coffee and caramel but there were notes of alfalfa hay. The flavor reminded me of a fine cup of Starbucks French roast coffee that was aloud to get cold. The middle had a hint of hop bitterness and the malt sweetness came out to play as well. The finish was long and lingering leaving impressions of ... you guessed it ... coffee.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a dark mahogany in color with a decently-sized tan head. Aroma is full of chocolate and coffee notes. Flavor boasts mocha and roasted nuts, but it’s not very sweet....more smoky and dry. Overall, a great porter, one of my favorites.
