3.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
The Mocha Porter pours an opaque black with a semi-creamy brownish head that quickly dissipated to a thin film and collar. It has a chocolate, coffee, roasted malt aroma. It has a nice malty initial taste that is heavy on coffee flavors. The finish is way too bitter for a porter though...kind of overwhelming. If not for that, this would be an excellent brew. As it is, it becomes very difficult to drink for me.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Dark chocolate color with a tawny head. Caramel aroma makes this an inviting brew. THe palate explodes with coffee and overcooked caramel but leaves a strong bitterness on the back of the palate, a bit too intense even for a porter.

Solid porter. In a way, kind of like a sweet stout. I'm not the biggest fan of porters, so I'm not an expert. This one is very roasty. Has some coffee and chocolate notes. Body lacks a little. Black opaque with a beige head that sticks around a little while. No lace evident. This one leaves me with the problem I find with most porters I try. It makes me want a stout.

Wow what a great beer. Smelled almost like cappachino. Tasted very chocolately and left one of the best aftertastes I have ever had from a beer. Very very good. I recommend this one highly if you like coffee, cappachino, or chocolate.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
The Rogue choice of hops has not been a favorite of mine, but here they work. Nearly opaque with red edges and a nice brown foam from the roasted malts. Deliciously sweet aroma of chocolate and roasted malts. Nice bite from the carbonation with a medium body. Not really creamy, but coffee and chocolate flavors really stand out. Finished with a medium bitterness and a lasting coffee taste. Best from Rogue I've tried.

Near black in colour, some deep amber around the sides of the glass. Thin tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate, sugar, malt and coffee. Flavour was quite roasty, medium bodied, some coffee, sweetness and cocoa. Finished with a medium chocolate bitterness. Thanks beerhugger for sharing this bottle with me.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours nearly black, with a hint of red. Lots of chocolate malt and coffee in the aroma. Nice dry, bitter taste, almost like chewing on a coffee bean.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JAN 11, 2004 I liked the rich reddish brown, closing in on black, colour and the creamy tan head with lingering lacing. Aroma and flavour both revealed the expected chocolate and coffee, and the slightly bitter aftertaste stayed nicely. Wouldn't choose this over the Shakespeare or Chocolate Stouts but would happily drink this over many other beers....

On tap. A barely-translucent black color with a tan head. A nice coffee-chocolate blend in the flavor followed by an extremely smooth finish. It doesn't hold up to Chocolate or Shakespeare Stout, but this is a good one nonetheless.

I liked this one. Creamy and rich, it's an excellent choice if you don't like the bitter, burnt taste of a Stout. Very nice!
