The flavor of this brew has somewhat of a smokey, roasted, bitter-sweetness to it that finishes fairly dry and long. A decent brew from Rogue, but not one of their better ones.

650 ml. Bottle. Drinking this one right now. Dark black with some amber showing through the light. Medium sixed head with good lacing. The odor is of molasses, coffee, corn flakes, and chocolate. Hints of roastiness, coffee, dark chocolate, and raisins. Bittersweet with a firm malty body and pungent hops. The finish is smooth, creamy, and toasty-roasty. A very nice porter.

Poured a dark brown with a slight reddish hue. Nice roasted aroma. Fresh ground coffee on the nose. It's like black coffee; not very sweet, but it's a little creamy. Very dry and roasted. Nice coffee/hop after taste. A really good porter.

A passable version of a porter, but the more I drink of mocha porter the more I grow to dislike it. It seems to be the lack of a sweetness present in most other porters. However, judging by the name, I think Rogue wasn't trying to draw similarities among other porters. This is definately different, with a coffee flavor that is entirely welcome if in the right mood. Judge for yourself.

Deep black with a tan head. Aroma was of piney hops and chocolate. Flavor matched, nicely balanced. Notes of coffee in there as well. The hops were really refreshing in this beer. Nice!

Sweet roasty nose. Dark color, creamy head that stuck around. Dry taste of high kiln grains and hops. Great porter!

Dark almost black in appearance. Head is medium in size with a dark tan color. Aroma is roasted malt with some coffee notes. The flavor is smooth with roasted malts and some nutty flavors, but it is nicely balanced. The mouthfeel is smooth but not heavy. This is by no means a big beer, but it is smooth, balanced and tasty. Today, this is just what the doctor ordered. Cheers.

Nice pour, inky black. But not thick. Little too bitter for my tastes in a Porter. Can't touch Anchor Porter. Nice overall, just not balanced enough. Too bitter.

UPDATED: MAR 28, 2004 This porter carries a dominant roasted hops flavour to it. It is bitter and tastes like coffee more than it does chocolate. I was favourably impressed - definitely quality ingredients in this one. I still prefer Kostritzer though for this style. If you're looking for a Chocolate Sout, try Mackeson XXX Stout - very chocolatey tasting.

Dark with a thick frothy head. Aroma is coffee and grapefruit. Taste is moderately coffee and bitter with bitter middle and a bitter aftertaste. Did I say it was bitter? I am generally a big fan of Rogue but this should be called bitter (or espresso)porter rather than mocha porter. Not a bad beer, just lacking balance.
