Can barely taste the mocha, and it has very little flavor. Like a Deschutes Black Butte Porter, but with less to it.

Yea, it was ok. Would rather have shakespear stout. This is decent, but Iíve had much better porters.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: MAR 31, 2007 Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, brown, mostly lasting. Body is dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, coffee, dark chocolate/cocoa), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers, grapefruit, resin). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly astringent. Straightforward/plain, and the hops are a bit overdone, but decent enough.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: JUN 30, 2013 A decent porter, pretty highly carbonated with espresso-chocolate notes. Nice initial sip, with a thick mouthfeel, but turns quickly to a watery middle and dry hoppy bitter afterttaste. I had this brew in 75 degree weather which probably didnít help its rating so I might have to try this one again...Original rating 2.9 4/13/02 ..Re-rate. Canít say I disagree with my original rating, but maybe I was a little harsh at 2.9..Iíll bump it to a 3

Not quite what I was expecting - a bit more bland that I had hoped for. Nice aroma with hints of molasses, could use a kick though. Flavour also a little lacking, but with nice coffee and chocolate notes. I enjoyed this beer much more once I got a ways into it. Also, the too-bitter finish smoothed out very nicely towards the end.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
#100! Well I was somewhat disapointed with this one. faint chocolate aroma, dark brown color, medium body. The flavor is light roasted malt, and a nice dryhopped finish. I would have liked a little fuller body and flavor, and some more chocolate. But itís still a Rogue and an above average beer.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
This could easily pass for a stout, but as such wouldnít score as well. As a porter, itís incredible. Deep black with a tan head, it is well named with chocolate coffee tones. Good beer.

I am fortunate to have a very fresh sixer of this in bottles. This brew pours dark muddy black with a full enough body to rival any stout. The huge rocky head is brown with excellent lacing, and was still remaining when I took my last swig. The clean pleasant malty aroma is very complex with sweet roasted caramel coffee, and dark chocolate and is very cookie like. Rogue balances the malt aroma with flowers, resin, heavy citrus, dough, earth, plum, toffee, and date. The delicate (for a porter) but rich flavor is fresh, and clean. With a balance between moderate bitterness, sweetness, and acidity (a grapefruit like taste in the middle), this brew is everything I could ask for in a porter. The palate is syrupy and creamy with soft carbonation, yet finishes dry. Itís fullness is unsurpassed - I have had stouts with less body. Outstanding. I love this beer!!
