Hmm...dark beers NEED heads. Too bad this one's went away so fast. Black, but not quite opaque body. Fair amount of carbonation. Sweet throughout with bitter hops stepping up and the end. A little heavier than some other porters I've tried. Mocha flavor is there, but not as much as I'd want.

Dark with very little head upon pouring.Roasted malt and chocolates dominate.
Easy to drink-interesting without being too exciting.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: OCT 9, 2005 It’s rich, it’s creamy, it’s quite tasty. The flavor is very similar to Shakespeare, but it’s a bit thinner with more drinkability. Not a bad thing. Roasty aroma and flavor, chocolatey aftertaste. This is an excellent beer.

Thick and long lasting head and an inviting aroma. Great tasting and a mild & pleasant aftertaste.

Perhaps not as "big" as i was expecting. Some light roasted malt and chocolate malt, with a fair hit of citrusy hops towards the finish, and perhaps some light smokyness, fairly pleasant, if a bit uncomplex, not really what i was expecting, but fairly tasty.

Color is black with a creamy tannish head, faded fast leaving tiny bits of lace. Smells dark and earthy of deep dark, blackened malt, notes of espresso & coffee. Taste echoes of the smell, earthy roasted malt thats very deep, dark, blackened, quite robust with a great dark bitterness of coffee, all very tolerable. Feel is pretty strong, heavy, and full with a nice deep coffee-like dryness. This porter is drinkable and packed with dark flavors, but some of the strength of the taste and body makes for intimidation in my book.

Pours very dark, opaque with a chocolatey aroma. Very little head. Chocolate and mocha come out very strong in the taste. Great brew.

I tried this one on cask. Very nice head and good hoppy tone balanced by the complex malt.

NABA BeerFest 03: Bottle pour, a very traditional porter with lots of chocolate taste to it.
