This is a great proter. Lots of maltines with a perfect hop balance. I didnt really notice much mocha flavor but it was still good. The one thing that sticks out is the smoothness of this beer.

Smells/tastes similar to Victory's storm king(thinner obviously).Great pour/phat head retention/lace was good.Very smooth w/ two of the kindest hop varietys available. And an assload of malts.Wonder what the alc% is?Really awesome lingering finish(dry)Hoppy as a strong pale but the perfect porter for me.

UPDATED: JUL 13, 2005 Absolutely no head when I pured this out of the bottle. Fairly good porter. Lots of chocolate and coffee flavor. Has a strong earthy smell of smoke. A little smoky taste and a very full body. Strong bitter aftertaste.

Deep rich chocolate brown with a dark heavy aroma and a deep head with lots of small bubbles. Momentarily sweet, with a touch of smokiness and a full body I usually expect from stouts. Starts out with good mocha flavor, but then takes a turn towards mostly hoppy bitterness. I expected this to have more sweet malt flavors throughout. Not unpleasant, just surprising. Ends with a long bitter, black coffee finish that lingers.

i made the mistake of tasting this beside the much creamier, more "mocha" anchor porter, and thus the rogue was kinda like 'ethel" next to lucille ball. sturdy and reliable, but with not much pizazz. it pours auspisciously, tho, as dark as a blacksmith's burnt leather apron; a coconut husk brown head is given to sullen moments, withdrawing to brood at the edge of the glass. the aroma describes burlap coffee sacks and hershey candy--not the candy itself, just the chocolate-tinged wrapper. there's a small roasty aspect to the flavor along with the substansial but papery dry hops. snappy carbonation opens the advance for bitters in form of citrus rind (lime?), dark chocolate with nudging reminders of praline. barely. but hey, it's a rogue: it's good. just don't embarrass it by opening an anchor at the same time.

Deep and dense appearance with a great tan head. Sweet chocolate injected coffee ground aroma. Complete rich and creamy mouthfeel, with a hop bite and a radical lingering flavor of dark chocolate and roasted nuts. This is a killer porter, drink it like an alien drinking alien beer.

A very deep murky pour. Appearance is very dark and has a big bold head. A nice chewy coffee aroma and taste, nicely roasted and slightly oily. Finish is rich and creamy, extremely palatable and tasty!

Dark brown hue with a good tan head and very good lace. Very roasted and nutty aroma with additional hints of mocha, coffee, piney hops, and meaty yeast esters. Sweet and bitter combination on tongue, lush and creamy mouthfeel. Bitterness last well on to the finish. A very good brew with a enjoyed a lot.

Fabulous! I forgot to rate this one several times now as I've picked up my thrid or fourth random Six of the stuff. Dark dark dark brown/black with a nice medium-size creamy head. Strong malty coffee and mocha flavor with a decent hop backbone. Great creamy mouthfeel. Seems VERY similar to Nimbus Outmeal Stout to me, only lighter bodied.
