1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 5/20
Beer pours (in Chimay glass) a dark black liquid that light can not penetrate with a small, light caramel colored head that dissipates quickly to near nothing. Aroma is of... what else do you expect from Rogue - the stench of hops. Hops overpowers any other aroma. Flavor is of overpowering hops, and little else. No other flavor can be detected even after careful consideration. This one's as bad as Rogue Chocolate Stout - a definite drainpour. From my somewhat limited experience with Rogue beers, they all smell and taste nearly identical. I believe I've now gone through all the Rogue beers I care to. There's nothing to enjoy with this brew, unless you're a hop head. HOP ON, bunny wabbits, otherwise, pass on this one. Sampled at 74 degrees Fahrenheit.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle: The brewers at Rogue just don't skimp on anything. This beer is just huge all around. Big chocolately nose of toasted malt, opaque black color with brown edges, huge tan rocky head. trong heavy roaste malt body. Charcoal, peaty tastes. Extremely long espresso bitterness that lingers well after the swallow. Thick body and a sharp, crisp palate. Just amazing stuff.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle A carbonated chocolate bar with a dry bitter finish, which makes you want to take another sip! The finish is almost like that of a sip of black coffee. This is a tremendous porter! This is going to make the cold winter nights a little more bearable!

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
not a bad dark, but when compared to the shakespear stout and the chocolate stout, this beer is lacking- although it isnt a stout.. i was going to buy the fullers porter, so at least i wont make this mistake again :)

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A good beer. Nice malty aroma and a good mouthfeel. Great appearance with its dark body and tan head. Decent balance for a porter. Good effort Rogue.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
I've been dying to try Rogue for a long while and I am not dissappointed. Forms a tan head and is as black as they come. A smooth, nutty taste that turns velvety and lingers in your mouth.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This is good beer. Beer pours very dark brown, almost black with big tan head. The head is fully retained with tons of lacing. Aroma is full bodied, multi-layered and complex. Flavor is smokey, coffee, sweet and hoppy. Yummy.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep dark brown color, opague. Brown frothy head. Mocha coffee aroma with a hint of chocolate. Rather thin, but with loads of flavor. Blackcurrant, roasted malt, espresso coffee and chocolate. Long toasty bitter and chocolate finish. Lovely beer that needs more body to be really first class.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Black; dark beige-brown head, creamy but disappearing. Nice madeirisation in the nose (beer not aged), preserved/sugared fruit, dark malts and bog myrtle. This is superb aroma. Bitter taste, going on into very bitter. Chocolate, mocca indeed, but also piney notes, dried basil and numerous herbs. Retronasal some cocos as in a Thai dish. Palate, however, is somewhat lacking; thinnish texture and just bitterness in the aftertaste, instead of aromatic delights. Pity about the finish. This does rank amongst the best in its style, and from this brewery.
