Dark brown hue with a good tan head and very good lace. Very roasted and nutty aroma with additional hints of mocha, coffee, piney hops, and meaty yeast esters. Sweet and bitter combination on tongue, lush and creamy mouthfeel. Bitterness last well on to the finish. A very good brew with a enjoyed a lot.

Smells/tastes similar to Victory's storm king(thinner obviously).Great pour/phat head retention/lace was good.Very smooth w/ two of the kindest hop varietys available. And an assload of malts.Wonder what the alc% is?Really awesome lingering finish(dry)Hoppy as a strong pale but the perfect porter for me.

This is a great proter. Lots of maltines with a perfect hop balance. I didnt really notice much mocha flavor but it was still good. The one thing that sticks out is the smoothness of this beer.

UPDATED: MAR 21, 2004 Better and better each time I have it, this is everything I want in a porter. Ultra dark with a white head, thick mouthfeel, more like a stout really. Super hoppy, super bitter, lots of coffee and chocolate. One of the best.

UPDATED: MAR 15, 2005 Great looking beer, very dark brown color with a long-lasting dark tan head. Brownie and chocolate malt aroma with a bit of charcoal. More brownie in the flavor along with yogurt-ish tartness and grapefruit rind hops. Kind of thin palate, but the flavors are rich and chocolately.

The Mocha Porter pours a mountain of caramel head; the body is basically black and dense. The aroma has some little hints of chocolate, coffee, but smells of big hops.
The flavor is, WOW, big and dark chocolate roasty malt but mainly just BIG Perie & Conennial hops bitterness setting in here! Not the typical Porter because the hops are quit overpowering of the usual chocolaty / coffee / toffee flavors generally found in porters. Good, but not a personal favorite, certainly different though, very full body, but over all it's just BIG.

Blackish brown, or perhaps brownish black. Nice kahki head, with tan floaties throughout. Meaty, roasty aroma. Big burnt toast and hops flavor. Nothing fancy, just roasted malt and hops. Rogue remains predictable and consistant and thats one one of the reasons I admire them.

I enjoyed the rocky, dark tan head for several minutes, and it left a very thick lace on the glass and kept a fairly thick ring around the edge of the glass througout the entire beer. The body of the beer is dark brown. The aroma is of sweet chocolate and some coffee notes mixed with a hint of hops aroma. The taste is a kaleidescope of flavors that seemed to change with every sip. From bitter hops, to dark chocolate, to coffee, to roasted malt, then sweet chocolate. This beer had very complex flavors that were extremely enjoyable.
