Pours dark brown with a dark tan head. The aroma smells strongly of coffee with faint chocolate undertones. Tastes of coffee and bitter chocolate while still tasting like a good ol’ beer. Definitely full-bodied with a smooth texture and decent carbonation. Finishes smooth with faint bitterness. Chocolate lingers on the lips.

Pours a dark black color with a huge tan root beer float head that never fades. Aromas are mocha coffee and chocolate. The taste is bitter dark chocolate and burnt coffee. The palate is thin and bitter. It’s an OK porter but it’s not very smooth and the aftertaste is thin and unbalanced.

12 ounce bottle purchased over a year ago at Total Wine in Tustin ($1.79). Pours very dark brown with one finger of light brown head. Aroma of dusty roasted malts and lighter notes of coffee, chocolate, vanilla, smoke, and dark fruit. Flavor is mainly rich chocolate and mild dark coffee and is much more earthy than sweet. Creamy smooth finish, leaving lingering coffee and dark chocolate tones. A straightforward and very drinkable porter. (1544, 409)

Pours a little darker than coffee with a fizzy tan head. Sweet chocolate aroma mixed with coffee beans. Emphasis on malt with some slight bitterness from the coffee and just a hint of sweetness. Decent amount of carbonation and a fairly light body. Maybe I’m just partial to my imperial stouts, but I’m not a big fan of this porter. Could be that I’m just not a big fan of the style though.

Dark, nearly black pour with a moderate tan head. Aroma is dark roasted malts and mocha. Taste is a little dry, malty and huge on mocha. A little thick, but would be great with a maduro.

(12oz bottle). Pours dark brown with thing tan head. Active carbonation when held up to a light. Aroma of chocolate, citrus and pine. Taste is roasty bitterness and some sweetness, but not much. Thin with some body. Finish is roasted bitterness. Getting some elements of the chocolate flavor. This beer would be much better if the the body were there. Expected more.

12oz from 21st Amendment. Pours a deep brown with a medium cappuccino head. Nice roasty milk chocolate nose. Feint. Milk chocolate carries through with a solid back end bitterness. Nice body. Solid, easy drinking porter. Bends towards chocolate, but calling it mocha overstates it a bit.

Pours a dark brown with a small, fading tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate and some toasted malts, coffee, and Chocolate. Has some pine notes from the hops as well. Smells first kinda like a sweet stout, but then it dries out a bit. Soft carbonation. Moderate bitterness up front, but finishes a bit light. Tastes as it smells, but as it warms, some coffee comes to the front. A good porter, but I like my porters.....as porters.
