Very dark brown with a red highlight, sturdy tan cap. Sweetish milk chocolate nose with subdued roast. Flavor starts a bit sweet and chocolatey before going dry and lingering with espresso. Tasty.

~Aroma of wet coffee grounds, chocolate, toasty, biscuity malts. ~ Pours dark brown to black color with small creamy off white head. ~Coffee flavor with roasted chocolate grains, some burnt flavor. ~Med body with med CO2, some astringency, roasted coffee bitter malt finish ~Easy drinking brew. Not really special in anyway. I could drink a couple and then not want anymore.

A chocolate stout porter. Pours a head really thick so watch out on that. I spilled a little of mine. Poured into Budvar stein glass. Roasted malts, chooclate, coffee and vanilla. Good stuff. I can drink this and not feel guilty. Wait that’s beer drinking summed up right?

UPDATED: JUL 30, 2011 Bottle. Poured a very dark brown with a medium (1-2 fingers) sized creamy tan head that was mostly lasting and had fair lacing. The aroma was moderately strong with the scent of roasted bread malts, mild resin hops and a dark leathery yeast with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, and molasses. It tasted nice and malty with a hint of bitterness and a dose of coffee at first and finished with a strong bitter and a mild sweet flavor that had a hint of chocolate at the end. The flavor that was left did not nearly last long enough. Mouthfeel was medium in body and a little watery yet a tad creamy in texture with a very soft carbonation. Overall not a bad Porter, although it was rather tasty it could of had a little more body for my liking. With that said I enjoyed it totally and it is definitely worth a try.

Bottle. Pours very dark brownish ruby with a creamy tan head that lasts a while. Aroma has notes of coffee, dark chocolate and roasted malt as well as a substantial amount of piney, resiny hops. Flavour is also quite hoppy and is very similar to the aroma but also has additional notes of vanilla, nuts and oak. Dry creamy mouthfeel with moderate carbonation and a long roasty, bitter finish which is also quite mellow. Surprisingly hoppy for the style, which works well; this is a another very good brew from Rogue.

Tastes slightly more carbonated than other porters that I have had, but that actually makes it much more drinkable. The flavors of coffee and chocolate are present, but not overpowering: bittersweet finish of the chocolate is what defines this tasty beer. I could easily drink a cold 6-pack of this delicious porter. Only downfall is the price that I would have to pay to do this in Minnesota.

12 oz bottle. Pours very dark with coffee aroma. Thin tan head which disappears fairly quickly. Taste is - you guessed it - coffee. Very smooth mouth feel. Moderate aftertaste. Doesn’t taste as good as it warms up which is the opposite of most dark beers. I like it but not a favorite.
