3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20 joeneugs (1423) - Livermore, California, USA - FEB 13, 2010
pours dark brown with a tan head. The aroma is chocolate and coffee with a little lactose. The flavor is kind of harsh and simple with a lot of sour/astringency. Small notes of chocolate, coffee, and berries. Massive dirty hops overpower any roasted quality in the finish. A good porter for hopheads.

Pours a dark brown with a big tan head, fades slowly... nice lacing though not very thick... Roasty, coffee aroma dominates, some chocolate, slightly sweet aroma... Burnt, roasty flavor, mild chocolate, big bitter coffee taste... dry dry finish, medium bodied... Almost has a bit of a flat root beer quality to it.,..

Bottle from Chevy Chase Wine & Liquors. Light chocolate aroma.Black appearance. Heavier chocolate taste than aroma, medium malt taste. Light body, soft carbonation. A decent porter, probably even sessionable even though it’s 5.1%, not 5.

12oz. bottle, pours dark brown with a big tan head. Aroma of strong coffee and chocolate. Flavour begins with chocolate and finishes with a lingering coffee note, and a pleasant mildly better aftertaste. Mouthful is smooth and silky. Very nice porter.

Bottle at Home. Pretty good!
Aroma is dominated by coffee and chocolate, some bitter hops lay hidden in the background.
Pours an amber brown with a frothy tan head and a decent lacing.
Taste is, of course, more chocolate and coffee that remains bitter front to back, but with a wonderful creamy mouth feel that coats the throat plesantly.
A nice porter that keeps Rogue in the front runnings for best American craft brewery.

Pours a dark brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma of hops, malts, chocolate. Chocolate and coffee flavors up front with a hops bitterness at the back end. Nice creamy mouth feel. Not the best porter I’ve had, but serviceable.
