3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 pressboxjoe (184) - , New Jersey, USA - OCT 21, 2009
Bottle. Creamy, chocolatey, coffee-y. Sweet, comforting. I don’t really like porters that much, but if I’m going to have one, along with Anchor, this is a go-to option.

12 oz bottle from Princeton’s. Dark brown/black pour with a big creamy tan head with some craters. Faint chocolate aroma with a hint of chocolate. Flavor is totally mocha, like a treat you’d get from a coffee shop. Smooth creamy mouthfeel and a nice lingering finish that keeps the coffee/chocolate flavors dancing on your tongue. Fantastic beer.

Sample from RnH. This pours a dark dark brown with slight ligth brown lacing. Aroma is toffee, roast, and bitter chocolate. The taste is insane - roasty with a definite "weed" flavor, so strange.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Narnad (1136) - Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA - OCT 19, 2009
Pours a very dark black color with a thin, tan head. Aroma is has notes of dark chocolate and lots of coffee. Flavor is slightly acidic, coffee and roasted malts were there but not overpowering while a sweet chocolate flavor followed up the slightly bitter start at the end. Modest body, slightly thin texture and a good amount of lacing. Overall a pretty enjoyable brew and one that I wouldn’t mind finding again sometime.

Draught sample at the Portland Pub. Fresh off a medal at GABF. I thought this might be a little over-rated at first but just when I was thinking "meh" it warmed up a little. This was great from the high end of cellar all the way to room temperature. lots of coffee and baking chocolate.

650ml bottle. Thick tar black in colour with a thick rich and dense tan head. Rich thick chocolate aroma that delights the nose. Looks robust and complex and has a burnt malt, toffee and chocolate aroma with a nice bitterenss that lingers and a chocolate flavour that develops on the palate.
