A decent porter. Nice ruby brown pour with a small persistent brown-white head. Roasted malts in the nose and on top of the tongue. A hint of chocolate in the middle and a nice moderate coffee-like bitterness on the finish. Medium mouthfeel with similar fizziness. Definitely drinkable.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Served in snifter. Pours with thick, creamy and slightly brown head. Its pretty dark, not penetrated by light. Aroma: mostly coffee and roasted malts, but not too intensive, some dried fruits, raisins as well. Distinct caramel, some vanilla and a hint of milk chocolate after shaking. Taste is well-balanced, coffee, caramel mostly and some sourness. Aftertaste is dominated by coffee, chocolate and suprisingly high bitterness. Finish is definitely long. It has great creamy mouthfeel, very enjoyable beer. Carbonation is perfect. I wouldnt expect anything from that kind of beer, great beer, definitely worth its price and another fine piece of work from Rogue Ales.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Nina’s Mini Market. Dark brown body with a thick beige head. Excellent lacing. Aroma of milk chocolate, liquorice and vanilla. Flavour of coffee, chocolate and a light berry finish. Medium body with a sleek mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Very tasty - lovely depth of flavour but balanced by the sharp fruity finish. Perhaps more of a Black IPA than a Porter.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a medium sized, beige head, while color is coal black color with fire red hints in it.
Decent aromas of burned malts, coffee, yeast and hints of brown sugar.
Much bitterer, than I expected this to be, as the beginning is defined by roasted coffee beans only - which leads to a gentle, oily bitterness. Then a creamy texture gets detectable on the palate, along with toasty malts, which turn sweeter, the longer they linger on the tongue. This impression gets boosted by a lively carbonation, which adds cooper hints to the espresso-like bitteress, and therefore enhances it even more. Flimsy sweetness gets into the beer by hints of molasse and toffee, but this porter stays unusual bitter. Also hops play their part in a convincing way, as they add depth to the beer and smooth the way for a long, coffee bean defined, bitter but smooth finish. The only thing which bugs me is the carbonation, which seems just too high as it comes to the aftertaste, and interferes with the creaminess in an unpleasant way.
