Bottle. Pours an almost opaque dark chocolate brown with a sandy head that leaves a thin froth behind. Smells earthy, dry, and with a hint of paper or cardboard. Dominated by moderately dry chocolate and roasted malt flavors and has a light, dull, hoppy aftertaste with a touch of carbon that is lightly bitter. Moderate to light body with fairly thin texture. One of my favorites that is also served at my favorite nightclub in Tampa. Can’t beat that for a night out!

Pours a nice big 3 finger chocolate head. Body appears black but when held to light turns a very dark brown. Head retention and lacing were good Aroma is of sweet chocolate malt. Smoky roasted malt is also in there. Hops arent very noticeable. It has that chocolate syrup smell that I love in chocolate beers. Taste is light and sweet. Roasted chocolate malt is the main flavor but as beer warms, a nice hop bitterness comes through. If I wouldnt have done some research on this beer I would have thought this beer was brewed with coffee beans. Combination of chocolate malt and hops create an illusion of roasted coffee. Mouth feel is light. Body is on the thinner side, head didnt add any creaminess. Good amount of carbonation Overall it was good. Very sessionable porter, flavors werent mind blowing but pretty solid. Surprised by the amount of hops in this beer, never had a chocolate beer that was this hoppy. Would buy again

Pours black, red edges. Nice roasty aroma, very cocoay. Decietfully, the flavour is dominated by coffee, which goes into a dark chocolate finish. A nice coffee beer - with no coffee in it! Well done Rogue.

Cask at GBBF 2009, 5th August 09. Smooth, quite thin dark brown with no head. Caramel on the nose. On the tongue the malt and coffee flavours interact well. This is a simple beer, made very well. Feels strong despite the quaffable palate.

A very pleasant malt and coco smell. Nice malt noses, mixes well together. Very dark, nice lacing. Malt flavour isn’t as pronounced as in the smell, a bit of alcohol in there too, wich you’d think would be covered over by the coco. Very light on the palate, malt and then alcohol, not to much else going on there. A nice porter, but it sorta does taste like a watery porter with decent malt flavour with some nestle quick chocolate milk powder thrown into the brew somewhere.

Bottle. Dark brown pour with a fluffy white head. Pours a little thin. Aroma of bitter chocolate, more on taste. Coffee flavor is late. Bitter finish. Medium mouthfeel.
