This porter definitely lived up to my expectations. You definitely don’t need to search for the mocha flavor in this. The beer equivalent of a late-night snack.

Poured a nice dark brown with practically no head. The smell was really faint, I had to really put some effort into catching the tones of this scent. It came off as roasted malts and hops. The taste, however, certainly made it’s presence known. The hops and roasted malt where there in force, accompanying a nice chocolate/cofee taste. Really good. Went down smooth. Very well balanced mouth feel, and a nice pleasant burnt hops after-taste. Serving type: bottle

Big beige-brown head. Incredible coffee aroma. This beer has lots of great things going for it. It doesn’t have the chalky taste that the Rogue Chocolate Stout has.

12 oz Bottle. Pours almost black, slight reddish tent. Two finger beige head that sticks. The nose is chocolate and coffee, but not all that strong. The taste is a bit watery. Based on my profound love for all things Rogue I was a little let down by this beer.

I didn’t like many of the Rogues, but this one was decent, better porters out there though.

Unlike some of the others who have rated this beer, the mocha-ness came though loud and clear to me. The aroma wasn’t terrific but the roasted malts did come through. The body was perhaps a bit too thin, but at the same time, so incredibly smooth. I am a bit undecided if a smooth porter equals a better porter and this beer goes a long way to prove that. But the rich, bittersweet, mocha chocoaltey finish is absolutely divine. I wish everyone else who didn’t taste the mocha when they tried it could have tasted what I did, because their opinions would change. The whole time I was drinking this I imagined a bowl of hazelnut ice cream in front of me and salivated about how good the two would taste together. Sigh...I am thinking Oregon is a good place to be right now.....

Pours a black/dark brown with a thin tan head and no lacing. Aroma is of roasted chocolate and coffee with some hops. Has a fairly bitter roasty mocha flavor and is more carbonated than I expected.
