As expected, rich, roasted, bitter chocolate and coffee flavors are very dominant. The creamy mouthfeel balances it out, and creates one good porter.

Ohhhhh yeaaa. Like this one. But I’m a porter fan. All the right porter elements, Fresh. What keeps it from the best porter is a little too much coffee taste for me. Fantastic classic porter aroma. Lively, full. Tail end going well with my steak.

One of my favorite porters, second only to Anchor’s. Not as dark as some others, and a nice sweetness(but not too much). A great beer.

Decent head and strong body. Great aroma and palate though the flavor was a little off at first.

lingering, pillowy tan head. Big wafts of grapefruit aroma. Initially caramel-sweet, followed by dark chocolate, roasted coffee and burnt toast. Became more balanced as it warmed a little.

Rogue Mocha Porter, how glad I am to have ran into you. This is another great beer from Rogue Ales. It pours out with a rather large head that is strongly brown in color. It had good retention and lacing, but not great. Very notable though. It takes on a very dark appearance. It looks black but upon further inspection it is actually a very dark brown color. Matches the name quite well. Aroma was sweet chocolate as was to be expected by the name. It has a light flavor, quite subtle to think about it. You can taste the roasted malts and that acts as the primary flavor and the mocha flavors comes as a nice undertone and aftertaste. The mocha flavor gets somewhat stronger as the beer warms up and that also brings out the bite from the hops. Decent carbonation adds to the body of the beer and ends up being a nice balance. Great beer to just enjoy. Delicious.

I drank this at room temperature. It’s got a medium-sized, creamy, light brown head, and pours black as pitch. There is no sediment or cloudiness at all, but the beer is pretty hard to see through. It has a dry, sharp hoppy smell. The first sip is somewhat bitter, with a very strong coffee flavor, enough to make me wonder if there is actually coffee in the recipie. After the first sip, the coffee flavor dissipates, leaving a nice, dry bitterness. It feels very thick going down, and the finish is also pretty dry. Porter is likely my favorite style of beer, and Rogue’s Mocha Porter epitomizes the best of what I like about it. This beer is yummy. I WILL get it again.

Must be the style - great reviews, highly recommended, and I just don’t get it and I am thinking I don’t understand the style, so the numbers might be meaningless. Stale tasting chocolate/coffee flavor. Hops too much, seems unbalanced. Could be shelf life, but thinking I am not a porter drinker. Would not buy again despite high hopes.

A good porter, but still a porter, not my taste.

A deep, rich brown with a tan head, this beer is a beautiful pour. The aroma lives up to its name, fairly screaming coffee and chocolate, with the coffee dominating. By flavor alone, this is practically a dry stout, but it feels a bit thin on the tongue for its flavor. Overall, this beer is one of my favorite companions for a big juicy burger.
