there are two things i love in life: chocolate and beer. consequently, i love this brew. dark, rich and sweet, with a lovely aftertaste. thicker than most porters, which is more than okay in my book.

Topped off with a huge, spongy, light brown head that lasted in a puffy film, this was an opaque dark brown with lovely deep red highlights... showcasing a murky microcosm of slow effervescence. Aromas started with a chewy chocolate toffee, turning to a pronounced smoke, dough and dark fruit nose. Flavor was nice and bitter from start to finish with a pleasant, vinous middle. Well-roasted coffee flavors and a spicy bite at the end. Syrupy mouthfeel with a dry finish. Awesome. I may have found a new favorite porter.

UPDATED: APR 10, 2007 Wow, this stuff is really, really good. Nice, thick, dirty brown head that sticks around. I can defintely taste coffee. Fantastic aroma. Beautiful dark color, and surprisingly smooth.

This comes out of the tap an opaque sable with a thick, camel color fine bubbled head. Strong aroma is like smoky coffee and has a firm tone of unsweetened chocolate and hints of molasses. Rich, satisfying flavor is like a mocha, fine roast coffee and chocolate, not sweet but not bitter either. Finish is smooth and sleek. Recommended to all porter and stout fans.

Dark chocolate brown in appearance with a nice coffee colored head. Bitter snap followed by a coffee-ish finish. A wonderful porter.

Low aroma but a wonderful ale otherwise. Makes me want to sit in front of a fireplace and just soak in the mocha. Rich flavor and full body. Consistently a winner!

A wonderfully rich, heavily malted porter from the brewMASTERS at Rogue. A deep, dark brownish color with a tint of mahogany. A sweet, biting upfront flavoring with the obvious hints of coffee and blackcherries. The taste opens up to a more floral sweetness backed-up by a slight orange peel earthiness. Full finish. Great Beer!

Very dark with a creamy tan head. I didn’t taste any mocha in it but I definitely could taste a chocolatey flavor. This is one of the better porters I have had. I would definitely drink this again. I wish we could get rogue brews in South Dakota.

Pours dark brown with a dark tan head. The aroma smells strongly of coffee with faint chocolate undertones. Tastes of coffee and bitter chocolate while still tasting like a good ol’ beer. Definitely full-bodied with a smooth texture and decent carbonation. Finishes smooth with faint bitterness. Chocolate lingers on the lips.
