3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear, very dark ruby mahogany, 2" tan head, thick swirls of lace. Aroma is black coffee and malt. Taste is toasted malt with an infusion of black coffee that stays nicely to one side. Dry bittering keeps things in check. Very well conceived and balanced, a lot of flavor for 5% abv. Highly recommended.

Beautiful dark color with a thick, creamy foamy head. Light aroma followed by a great taste of coffee and chocolate with a slight sour note and some toasted . Loved it.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a nearly black deep mahogany color. One finger of a brown sugar colored head that dissipates quick. No lacing. Aroma is packed full of coffee! A hint of cocoa, dark roasted malts, and I also get dark fruits in this beer, cherries and raisins. The taste is a lot like the aroma, with the addition of as meet malt flavor, as well as the dark roasted ones. The finish is dry and bitter, with lingering flavors of hops, and coffee. Overall, I thought this beer was more of a coffee porter or stout. It needed more cocoa flavor. But it was a great beer!

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark brown close to black color and leaves the same colored body with a one and a half finger rocky white head that rises, holds for a good minute and dies at a gentle pace; lacing is actually kinda all over the place, I mean its there, its just sporadic and messy; the aroma has mocha coffee up front with a nice dosing of cocoa to add a nice sweetness to it; slightly roasty yet sweet; the taste is bittersweet - combined nicely through the coffee and cocoa, and even as it warms it stays balanced and still has a nice roastiness to it; no aftertaste, dry finish; its pretty easy on the palate and sessionable; overall, a porter well worthy of coming back to in the winter months

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a very dark brown with a 1 1/2 finger head - very attractive. Nose is subtler than I would have thought, but some light coffee and chocolate. Taste is also of coffee and chocolate, along with some bitterness on the finish. Not too heavy with a medium body. A good porter.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(Bottle): Pours almost black with an off white head. Aroma of coffee beans, roasted malt and cream. Flavour is big on coffee, roasted malt, dark chocolate and vanilla. Slight dark fruits on the aftertaste. A little acidic but nice anyway.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
$2.49 single bottle poured into a pint glass. Itís been awhile since Iíve had a Rogue beer.
Appearance: A slightly hazy black and dark ruby color. Two fingers of a mocha head that actually stays at one for quite awhile. Lacingís pretty good. The head itself is pretty creamy. Looks great.
Smell: Coffee. Dark chocolate. Some malty sweetness. Truthfully, all to be said about this beer -- and thatís not a bad thing. Fits well with the style and name of the beer. Easier to pick up when the beer warms.
Taste: Semi-sweet mocha right at the start, and almost through to the end. The finish adds some roasted malts to the whole thing to keep it from being overly sweet. Not overly complex, but very enjoyable regardless. Gets a touch sweeter as it warms up, which is fine with me.
Feel: I think this is about perfect for a porter, as I know the style. Itís got a medium body with a pretty creamy mouthfeel, but itís not as big as a stout is/should be. Somewhat prickly carbonation on the front of the tongue on the finish.
Suddenly one of my favorite porters, if not my favorite (Edmund Fitzgerald is up there as well). The one thing about this beer, while I enjoy it a bit more than Edmund Fitz (mostly because of the feel), itís also a dollar or two more expensive for a six pack... Iím not sure I like it THAT much more. Rogue Mocha Porter is a pleasant tasting, easy drinking, sessionable porter that I could gladly enjoy a few of. Definitely try this beer.
