Darker amber pour with decent tan head. Nose of roasted nuts with bits of hops. Flavor has a good roasted malt with mild sweetness that is pushce aside by the pine hops that take control at the end.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
This beer brings me back full circle to the first craft beer I’ve tried. 1988 in Philadelphia, at the Khyber Pass Pub. The concert was some punk band like Mule or Philly’s Serial Killers. At the bar there were all sorts of beers I never heard of, and a girl next to me said to try the Rogue Mogul Madness. After that, I couldn’t drink another cheap macro to save my life. and looking back, this isn’t so bad for a first microbrew! the body is ruby-copper, clear. Head is thick foamy, lasts well. aroma is fresh piney hops, juicy, a little floral and perfumey. faint cat urine. flavor starts sweet and lightly roasted caramel malt at the back of the palate, kind of bready, then goes to spicy, bitter, resiny hops with a leafy bitter finish. body is mild to light, kind of feels thin because of the tingly carbonation. aftertaste is fresh peeled grapefruit pith. so many different hops are in the mix that the character gets a little neutralized.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft – Max’s. Dark amber, thick lightly tanned head. Deep rich toffee and earth aromas ride soft layers of piney-floral hop notes. Rich caramel malt flavors are well balanced on undercurrents of grassy citric- pine and hints of vanilla wafer. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, bittersweet finish. One of the better Rogue beers I have had in recent memory. Well done and quite tasty…

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a dark red with a small tan head. Aroma of hops, grass and pine. Flavour is a good balance of sweet malt and hops. Good beer, but lacks any special character.

Bottle. Dark red, nice creamy brown layer. Smoky, roasted, grassy and piney aroma.
Roasted and smoky base, strong grassy, quite a bit of tree. Most certainly a wintery beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
From a 22 oz bottle this poured a dark brown with a moderate tan head that left moderate lacing. The nose was quite malty and backed up by citrus and pine hops. Fairly robust body and a good clean mouthfeel. The flavor is light roasted malts and quite a bit of bitterness from the hops. The bitterness carries over into the finish. Quite decent beer.
