[ Trade by Chrisv10 ]. Clear medium to dark red brown colour with a large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, moderate roasted, moderate to heavy hoppy, pine, grapefruit, orange - citrus. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, roasted - burnt bitter, hoppy, dark roasted, burnt malt. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20120212]

From tap at Rogue Ale house in SF. Poiurs clear and golden dark amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is dark malty and light fruity. Bitter, fruity and dark malty flavoured. Mild roasted note. Bitter and dry into the finish. Nice dry finish.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a lazing brown head. The aroma has strong notes of hops lending it notes of spices and lemons. The flavor is sweet with notes of chewy malt, caramel, spices, and citrusy hops.

Bottle 65 cl. Pours an opaque dark brown with a handsome, dense beige head. A little citrus in the nose, some herbs and licorice. Medium-bodied, light coffee notes, sweet licorice and again light citrusy hops and a dry lightly malt bitter finish. Not the most refined Black IPA. 311211

Bottle. Pours a slighlty hazy dark amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty hoppy caramel aroma. Fruity malty hoppy bitter caramel flavor. Has a fruity malty caramel finish with a hoppy bitter citrus aftertaste.

Bottle @ Odense Tasting Januar, 2012. Pours ruby brown with a small creamy head. Chocolate, vague roast and caramel with a touch of citrussy hops. Medium bodied. A bit boring and lacks hops

Draught at Amberjack Tap House, Surrey, BC
Red-brown color, hazy, with a huge head, creamy. The aroma has some sweet caramel and resiny/citrusy hops. Good body strength, solid dark caramel flavor, chewy, with some residual sugars; powerful hopping, very resiny; very strong final, long, with focus on roasted nuts. An obvious beer, but also another good hit from Rogue.

Bottle from Skold Burne. Huge head with excellent duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste are rich hops, roast malt, caramel, licorice nuts and peach.
