Commercial Description:
Five layers of malt create a complex, slightly sweet flavor balanced by five different hop varieties. The addition of free-range coastal waters and Rogue's proprietary PacMan Yeast make this 12-ingredient elixir something Friar Tuck would enjoy! We hope you do too! Monk Madness Ale is brewed with 2-row Pale, Belgian Munich, Belgian Special B, Weyermann Melonoidin, and Amber Malts; Belgian Nobles, Chinook, Amarillo, Centennial, and Summit Hops; measuring in at Plato 18 degrees, ABV 7.4 percent, 68 IBUs, 78 degrees Apparent Attenuation, and 36 Degrees Lovibond. (Editor's Note: these stats are from the bottle, not the website, which differs substantially) A versatile and robust ale, we recommend pairing this with spicy foods, strong cheeses, and/or with dessert.

Bottle. Pours deep amber brown with a pale and splotchy head. Smells of Big Fig, honey, citrus and fresh cut grass. Tastes of bitter sweet love, and a fine affair between hops and barley. Dry and thin in the end.

Dry and Flat with a little sweetnes in the noise with grassy greens. Pours Cherry red with a Linda Loveless amount of head. Its overall above the curve. Its Hoppy Like a Rabbit but Bitter Like asoccer mom without her prozac. This is a Great flavor combo.

Pours a cloudy muddy brown with medium tan head. Nose is caramel and citrus hops. The flavor opens with sweet, candied oranges and apples, segueing to a bitter and spicy finish. Alcohol is well hidden. Mouthfeel is syrupy.

(from notes). Bottle. Caramel malts and orange nose. Sweet hop balance. Pours opaque with cloudyness, amber. No head. Hoppy as HELL for the style, probably too hoppy. Palate is excessively dry.

Overhopped. Interesting try though. Citrusy aroma with hops, light sweetness. Flavor was hops masking the fruits and spice and malts. Kind of grainy bitterness in that it wasn’t lucious hop flavoring, more... grainy. Finishes with hops. Did I mention it was full of hops?
