TheBeerLover (1019), DC Metro Area, USA Jan 31, 2007 22 oz bomber. Pours to a slightly hazy, deep caramel color, with a soapy, white head that fades, and a good carbonaton. Lots of good citrus hops in the nose, with some hints of sweet and caramel malt. The plate is firm, with good caramel, nutty, and sweet malt flavors, with some tangy citrus hop flavor in the back ground. This beer finishes with more caramel and nuts up front, then ends with a tangy citrus hop bitterness that lingers. Good hop character with a nice malt back bone, though the hop and malt character seems to fight each other in this beer. Good beer to match with spicy fare, and a strong and sharp cheese course as Rogue suggests. Another solid beer from Rogue, but not a distinctive enough beer from Rogue, that I would purchase it on a regular basis. I enjoyed it, but I found it just to be a cut above average. bigrond (1043), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 30, 2007 very smooth, very good. Nice dark color and even better smoothness. Sweet & malty with the very smooth finish. I very good beer - but just no real bite. If you like the sweet small finish, this is real good. sethdude (600), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Jan 30, 2007 Pours a hazy brownish red with a medium-large head. Smells like wet cardboard, dirty hair, acrylics, and hops. Flavor is initially malty and warm, vanilla, maple, mild cherry notes in there, warms to a burned toast flavor, and here come some compromised hops. There’s almost no hop flavor, just the bitter, resiny flavor. Absolutely no balance, nor any discernable direction, just a lump of oddly collected flavors. I’ve certainly had much worse beer, but this is forgetable and a weak effort. IrishBoy (2686), Bakersfield, California, USA Jan 29, 2007 Bottle; Nose of floral hops and caramel malt; Light brown with a small beige head; Falvor in the medium body is mild hop bitterness balanced by the good malty body, along with some citrus notes, leading into a mild hop finish. Extremely well balanced ale! Odeed (1666), Bakersfield, California, USA Jan 28, 2007 clear amber body with a nice light brown head that fades fast.no lacing left on the glass.aroma is light figs, brown sugar, belgian yeast, and spices.flavor is a mix of the aroma, with a slight sour aftertaste.finish is dry and the mouth feel is on the medium side. Braudog (3733), Dayton, Ohio, USA Jan 28, 2007 From the bomber. I love Rogue’s bottle labels. Anyway, this poured with the towering head I’d expect, more than 50% a rocky heady with a shiny red sheen beneath. The aroma is lightly sugary, somewhat woody, but a bit beneath my expectations. Tangy and tart from the first swallow, this settles into a mellow drinker, much mellower than the 7.4% would suggest. An interesting contrast of an American hoppiness floating over a more sugary base than the beers we’ve come to love in the States. I like it though ... comes off pretty well, and I believe I’d have this again in an instant if offered. More quality Rogue! (#2669, 1/28/07) lukin013 (211), Columbia, Maryland, USA Jan 27, 2007 On tap at Mad Mex. Clear ruby body with small off-white head. Aroma is of floarl hops and some fruit. Flavor is a little odd... floral hops, caramel, some spice and some toastiness. Slightly soapy mouthfeel. Not too much character for a strong ale. ratman197 (3139), Arvada, Colorado, USA Jan 27, 2007 Bomber poured a clear reddish brown with a large lasting amber head. Aromas of carmel, toffee, lightly fruity and a hint of spice. Palate was light bodied, crisp and dry. Flavors of toasted malt, carmwel, raisin and grapefruit rind with a lingering bitter finish.
