Bottle @ home, picked up at Wilbur’s Fort Collins. Pours a black appearance with a brown head. Really a nice, quite toasty malty, chocolate, cookie, slightly burnt, light caramel aroma. Flavor has some nuts, toffee, chocolate and bready, toasted malts but unfortunately is completely full of butter. A bit watery as well. Damn, this one seems to have some potential.

Bomber. Deep red brown with a thin tan ring of head. Nutty, soy sauce, earthy hops, graham crackers and rich malts. Flavor is richly sweet with a light bitter finish. Body is medium heavy with a creamy feel. Very tasty, reminiscent of a black IPA, but without the black licorice flavor.

Pours a clear dark brown with a nice frothy brown head that leaves ample lace. Aroma of nuts, chocolate, roasted malts and mocha. Taste is nutty, roasted malts, chocolate and a bit of bitter black licorice with a nice zesty crisp and refreshing finish. Excellent sessionable dark ale with tons of flavor and Aroma but so easy to drink.

Nice dark color with a medium, tan, burnt-looking head. Not really black, but reddish-black (darker than mahogany). Light bodied. Very smooth & drinkable. Lots of roasted malt. Pretty similar to a schwarzbier. The buckwheat gives it some nice nutty and earthy flavors. Lightly hopped, low bitterness.

Pours a root beer color with aroma of nutty malts and hops. Taste is complex with a clean, crisp, flavor. A full malt mouthful with a slight sweetness of caramel. A delicious beer that has a twist of soba grain.

Bottle sample at Beoir Go Leoir. Lightly smoky soy -like malt, cola, and light molasses aroma. Hazy chestnut with a small beige head. Light smoky nutty malt and cola flavor with a very subtle hop finish. LIght body, moderate carbonation. The flavor was surprisingly complex, actually a little difficult for me to describe, and very easy to drink.

Bottle. Pours a darker reddish beer with a small, of white head on top. Aroma is malty, some rice and a roasted backing. Flavor has a very roasted bitterness and it’s incredibly malty. A bit on the watery side, but still quite decent. Nice.

22 oz bomber served in a snifter. A: Pours dark mahogany with a small, short-lived, light tan head. Leaves a small spots of lacing. More or less clear. S: Sweet aroma featuring mixed grains with fruity overtones, toffee and a hint of red wine barrel. T: A more complex and unusual flavor than expected even given the rather unusual and rather complex aroma. Diverse tasted malt aspects, presumably including buckwheat. [Actually, there is a somewhat clear note of buckwheat in the finish,] Hints of toffee, dark fruits and hops. Low bitterness, M: very good body with mediumcarbonation. Fairly clean and semi-dry finish. O: quite distinct, very interesting and well-crafted, with a good sweet/bitter balance, However, neither the aroma nor the flavor profiles were entirely to my liking. As intended, I guess, good with Asian cuisine.
