This is thin in body but has a variety of subtle flavours that make it slightly more interesting than just "meh"

Bottled sample at Ki in Toronto. Nice hop flavor. Not sure what Soba is but it tasted great. Loved it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bomber from giant eagle. Sweet malt nose with toffee hints. Pours brown with brown white head. Head lingers. Starts like a medium dark porter and finishes with rice and malt to follow. Very mellow and doesn't bite. ---Rated via my mouth

Pours brown with a tanned head with lacing. Sweet dark aroma of some malts, hints of coffee and chocolate. Medium mouth, Decent aroma, and perfect body and level of aroma for when a stout/porter is just too heavy.

Backlog rating 3-01-2009. (Bottle) This beer poured a medium sized tan fizzy head with good retention, visible carbonation, transparent body, fair amount of lacing, and a reddish-brown hue. The Aroma is malty, nutty, hoppy, and chocolate. The Taste consists of malt, nutty, hoppy, chocolate, and smokey. The Palate is tingly and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, this beer is very quaffable, worthy of a try and a beer that I would consider drinking again.

Nice "lighter" stout-style ale on par with but a bit better than Young's but without the chocolate. Nice coffee notes at the back end. But just a tad too watery. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Smells of... Rogue. Was my immediate thought when opening the bottle. Tastes like Id expect from them for a American dark ale, but grainier and drier. All the "subtleties" were exactly as youd find with their other ales. Id had this in my fridge for quite a while, wondering why Id bought it because it seemed like a novelty and nothing more, but the final drinkage was pleasantly surprising, it can stand on its own.

Morimoto Black Obi Soba Ale version. Poured a dark brown with an averaged sized tan head. Aromas of light roast, nuts, and caramel. Tastes of nuts, some dark fruits, and caramel. Nutty. Malty sweet with a very light bitter finish. Tastes and aromas were both on the subtle side. Body on the thinner side. Some lacing left on the glass.
