Poured from bomber into tulip glass. Caramel colored, nice one inch head formed and a fair amount of bubbles. Smell: Light caramel, a slightly sour note. Very subtle smell overall. Taste: Burnt malt, but very smooth and no real bitterness. Creamy and soft but still light bodied. Moderate carbonation. I’m actually very impressed/surprised by this. The creaminess and light body do not seem a likely combination, but I really like it. Given the ingredients used this ale turned out well. A nice curiosity but nothing I’ll be drinking again soon.

Pours a root beer color with aroma of nutty malts and hops. Taste is complex with a clean, crisp, flavor. A full malt mouthful with a slight sweetness of caramel. A delicious beer that has a twist of soba grain.

Bottle sample at Beoir Go Leoir. Lightly smoky soy -like malt, cola, and light molasses aroma. Hazy chestnut with a small beige head. Light smoky nutty malt and cola flavor with a very subtle hop finish. LIght body, moderate carbonation. The flavor was surprisingly complex, actually a little difficult for me to describe, and very easy to drink.

Bottle. Pours a darker reddish beer with a small, of white head on top. Aroma is malty, some rice and a roasted backing. Flavor has a very roasted bitterness and it’s incredibly malty. A bit on the watery side, but still quite decent. Nice.

22 oz bomber served in a snifter. A: Pours dark mahogany with a small, short-lived, light tan head. Leaves a small spots of lacing. More or less clear. S: Sweet aroma featuring mixed grains with fruity overtones, toffee and a hint of red wine barrel. T: A more complex and unusual flavor than expected even given the rather unusual and rather complex aroma. Diverse tasted malt aspects, presumably including buckwheat. [Actually, there is a somewhat clear note of buckwheat in the finish,] Hints of toffee, dark fruits and hops. Low bitterness, M: very good body with mediumcarbonation. Fairly clean and semi-dry finish. O: quite distinct, very interesting and well-crafted, with a good sweet/bitter balance, However, neither the aroma nor the flavor profiles were entirely to my liking. As intended, I guess, good with Asian cuisine.

650ml bottle. Clear darkest brown colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Dark malty aroma with a nuttily touch, hoppy overtones. Taste is moderately sweet dark malty with a nuttily touch, hoppy overtones in the middle part, later again more malt dominated with subtle sweetness. Well-balanced, nice.

This is thin in body but has a variety of subtle flavours that make it slightly more interesting than just "meh"
