Not very impressed at all. Interesting use of buckwheat but I suspect they didn’t source very good buckwheat. The buckwheat should be more pronounced for sure. Will not order again.

Taste 7/8. Looks:Yellow, small head. Aroma: Unique, nutty wheat. Taste: Spicy, buttery. Very fizzy with a thin body. Ehhh...not only not worth the money, not worth the time.

Bottle. Hazu golden, pearling carbination off-white cream. Grainy, lightfooted citric aroma. Hayish light nutty malt entry, lemongrass notes. medium to light body, sparkly mouthfeel. Citric aftertaste without any sticky resin. Refreshing and just what I needed after my run around Elk&Beaver lake :-)

THOUGHTS: Seemed rather British. It was different, but not something that improved the world of beer. TECHNICAL: Bottle (Asian art version). Poured a hazy, dark yellow to light orange with a small, white head that mostly diminished and left fair lacing. The aroma was moderate toasted malt, flower and herbal hops and light fruit. The initial flavor was lightly sweet, light to moderately acidic, and moderately bitter; while the finish was light to moderately sweet, lightly acidic and moderate to heavily bitter with an average duration. There was toasted malt and some citrus lemon along with some herbal hops and maybe a touch of honey but also some metallic hops. The light to medium body was a little dry with fizzy carbonation and a metallic and light to moderate astringent finish.

Tasty and citrusy aromas after a deep yellow-ish pour. Good size head. Continues with the citrust (I would definitely lean towards an Orange) taste and slightly creamy on the palate. Not bad at all, but definitely not worth the inflated Rogue prices.

Sampled with Frank, Orange pour with a mild bread and citrus aroma. Really a bland citrus taste. I wasn’t too impressed but it do able.

Japanese label. This cloudy orange ale poured with a thin frothy head and a floral aroma. There is a nutty malt flavor with some citrus taste and a thick bitter finish.

(22 oz bottle at home on June 25, 2008) Labeled as Morimoto Soba Ale. Rogue seems to have made an effort to hide the "Rogue" name from the label. Poured a slightly foggy orange into my pint glass with a heavy frothy head. Steady, slow, heavy carbonation. Nose reminds me of… incense… oh, that’s because i’m burning incense - never mind. Will have to re-rate the aroma when I have a clear nose. Wait... here we go... smells sweet and fuity. Taste almost reminds me of a pilsener. No, wait, second sip reminds me of a light, grained ale but with the body and palate of a thick pilsener. Finish is much like a lager.
