Bomber of Morimoto Soba... Hazy brownish straw color with lots of effervescence and a pretty dense one-finger head. Aromas are predominantly spicy: picking up cloves and coriander, and a heap of sweetness. Flavor is... well... different. It starts off as a pretty grainy mix with a sour touch that then gives way to a bit of a spicy finish with some lingering citrusy pucker on the tail end. I’d imagine this is one of those beers that is wierd enough that I’ll try it again just to check and make sure it’ still different.

22 oz bottle, Morimoto Soba Ale, via Secret Santa PhillyBeer2112. Pours a very slightly hazy orangish colored body with a two finger foamy off-white head that left some nice lace. Aroma is fairly light with some malty sweetness, earthy wheat, Rogue yeast, and some graininess. Flavor is quite earthy and lightly sweet with grainy wheat up front. Finishes with a good dose of yeast, light fruitiness, and a toasted/nutty flavor that I guess is soba. Mouthfeel is lighter bodied with nice soft carbonation and an almost creamy texture. Overall, this was pretty decent, but there really wasn’t much to get excited about. Closest in style to an American Wheat.

Morimoto Soba Ale, bomber bottle. Pours a very murky orange with an off white head and active carbonation. Smells of malty sweetness. The taste starts with a slightly earthy nutty beginning, starts to rage up into a hoppy finish, but drops out before hitting the hoppy point. Very smooth mouthfeel with very little asrtingency.

A nice, if somewhat simple beer. A little toasted on the aroma and malty in the body. Nice even carbonation but not much in the way of hops - aroma or bitterness.

Botttle 44F Lager. Warm wheat smell, with next to no hop presence. Pours a medium hazy color, with a light head that dissipates quickly. Taste was dark a bitter, but not a hop bitter but more of a dark grain bitterness. A good taste, full flavored but still a nice light mouthfeel. Quite nice and very enjoyable spicy wheat beer.

22 oz bottle. Hazy orange color with bubbly white head that laced the glass. Earthy aroma with a touch of malty molasses. Flavor is similar with a touch of sweetness on the tongue.

Rogue Morimoto Soba Ale; Bottle. Orangish/ amber pour with w fluffy white head. Aroma is hazelnuts, a nice malt texture, a bit of citrus (maybe orange), a nice roastyness to it with a doughy aroma. Taste is remarkable Asian, with the slight soy taste and a light malt note makes this beer different. Again there is a slight citrus acidity to it similar to lemon or orange. The palate is quite sticky, slightly bitter, and kind of flat. Overall, It’s definitely different, but not in the "Yuck, why the hell are they calling THIS beer" kind of way. Just like I said it’s enjoyable yet different.
