The aroma presented itself as primarily malty with emphasis on roasted malt but there were also decidedly strong notes of spicy hops as well. The body was medium to light with soft carbonation and a soft, smooth, watery texture. The flavor started off neutral - neither sweet nor bitter. I definitely recognized the flavor imparted to the beer from the use of buckwheat. A slight bitterness developed throughout the medium-long finish. rudolf (1751), Buffalo, New York, USA

Flavor is grassy, light caramel, slight tartness. Almost like an English IPA with a twist. piscator34 (1121), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 19, 2006 Light amber in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas are wheaty (a little sweet) with a bit of floral hops. The flavors are of light malt, soap, and a touch of lychee fruit. Medium to light bodied. My wife really enjoyed this beer, but I found it to be a little dull as compared to other Rogue offerings. Not a bad beer. radiomgb (1957), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada

Flavour of wheat and malt. Reminds me of a wheatbeer combined with a lager-style. Speciel. Braudog (3752), Dayton, Ohio, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jun 11, 2006 22 oz bottle of Morimoto Soba Ale: Poured a musty straw color, exceptionally active, with a gigantic head. Almost a lemony aroma that I did not anticipate. The flavor is gristy, almost pasta-like. Very good body for a beer that is otherwise so light in character. I like it.
