| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 5, 2006 Labeled as Morimoto Soba Ale. This pours and looks like an IPA, very yellow golden in color, with a huge foamy (bubbly, really) head. The difference is the smell, very earthy, wet, and malty. Not bad, just a little odd in my opinion. I liked the taste at first, very citrusy and hoppy, but that falls flat pretty fast. There isn’t a lot of body to this brew, and the flavor washes out except for some lingering sweetness. Not a lot of finish, one way or the other. So, this isn’t bad, but it isn’t good either and it will be my last bottle, whether it’s called Buckwheat Ale or Morimoto Soba. jhwarfield (123), USA

Medium bodied and well hopped for flavor, citrusy hop taste. Very interesting beer, it is similar to some winter seasonal in I’ve had in flavor. Slightly sweet but finishes crisp.
