(Bottle 65 cl) Comes as "Morimoto Soba Ale". Pours a hazy amber with a creamy, off-white head leaving a discreet lacework. Soft, somewhat malty caramel aroma. Medium-bodied, lightly sweetish malty but not overwhelmingly characterful. Basically no bitterness. 030606

MORIMOTO SOBA ALE - Has a hazy golden appeaance. Starts with a citrusy aroma. Taste is very fruity, hoppy, and wheaty. high carbonation - some hints of bitterness - very refreshing.

Labeled as Morimoto Soba Ale. This pours and looks like an IPA, very yellow golden in color, with a huge foamy (bubbly, really) head. The difference is the smell, very earthy, wet, and malty. Not bad, just a little odd in my opinion. I liked the taste at first, very citrusy and hoppy, but that falls flat pretty fast. There isn’t a lot of body to this brew, and the flavor washes out except for some lingering sweetness. Not a lot of finish, one way or the other. So, this isn’t bad, but it isn’t good either and it will be my last bottle, whether it’s called Buckwheat Ale or Morimoto Soba.

On tap, labeled Morimoto Soba Ale. I was convinced it was a Lager, soI am not certain this is the right label; however, light, crisp beer. Pours Golden. Very little finishing taste.

Poured a slightly hazy gold with a good head and lacing. Taste is of lemon and ginger. Medium bodied and well hopped for flavor, citrusy hop taste. Very interesting beer, it is similar to some winter seasonal in I’ve had in flavor. Slightly sweet but finishes crisp.

Buckwheat and way too much of it, lagerish mouthfeel. Some lace.Buckwheat aroma. Malty, medium mouthfeel. A bit on the sweet side with the malts and the buckwheat gives it some character, but it gets very boring

Bottle: Poured a golden yellow color beer with a nice white bubbly head with great retention. Aroma is grainy with a good malt presence. Taste is quite refreshing with a nice dose of malt, the subtle but distinctive presence of buckwheat and some fresh crisp hops. Body is above average. Without anything bold or big, this beer did make a good impression on me.
