No kidding a very mediocre beer from the brewer that makes one of the best Stouts ever. beervana (781), Libertyville, Illinois, USA

Labeled as Morimoto soba ale. Clear orange hued ale having an average sized diminishing off white head with spare lacing. No discernable carbonation. Fruity, sweet malt aroma. Medium bodied that starts with light sweet malt and hop flavor. Some slight sharpness detected. Finished dry with bitterness and nutty malt aftertaste. A good drinkable, clean tasting, light hoppy beer, though a bit watery for my taste. MrRain (427), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA

It smells like a nice loaf of bread with a touch of lemon. It has a nice citrus flavor and a mild, nicely carbonated beer flavor. It has a clean finish. I tried some chedder cheese with it and it lost some of it’s appeal as it wasn’t strong enough to cut through the cheese. All in all it was a nice refreshing light beer. I would definitely drink this again and would even buy a 5 gallon keg for the bar. Yard (45), Senoia, Georgia, USA

Bland on palate with little aftertaste. Not very impressed. oldrtybastrd (1801), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 12, 2005 What pretty looking, golden ale. Rocky white head, orange hue. After that, it’s just straight up boring. Smells, like, uh beer. Tastes like a pilsner. I’m assuming “soba” and buckwheat is the same thing. Not even close to its 5 bucks a bottle price. It gets a little better as it warms....I pick up some vanilla. ericmc83 (200), Arkansas, USA

Light and refreshing. The folks at the Flying Saucer printed out a description from their computer system for me and it said that Soba is a member of the rhubarb family...I was kind of skeptical as to how that would work out, but it’s actually pretty good for a lighter beer in my opinion. slang (397), Columbia, South Carolina, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Nov 10, 2005 Very cloudy golden ale. Sweet nose w/ floral hop notes. The taste is also sweet with lemon and bread there too. This zesty, bubbly refreshing ale is good, but was disappointing.... and WTF is up w/ putting this in the "Morimoto" series? I guess ’soba’ sounds smarter than ’buckwheat’... a cheap ploy if you ask me.
