bottle of Morimoto Soba Ale. Typical gold with thin white head. Chalky aroma with plenty of very floral notes. The flavor is pretty much like drinking flowers, like an herbal tea. It’s pretty thin and really doesn’t offer anything remarkable other than being a unique ale. I really like most Rogue brews and it’s nice that they try different things, but it doesn’t always work out for the best.

Bottle (of Morimoto Soba Ale). Pours gold with a thin white head. The aroma is something like fresh cabbage and something like sweet and sour sauce. It tastes very grassy, including some raw flowers. Kind of a grainy toast to the finish. This isn’t really up to par with other Rogue offerings.

Bomber poured a hazy orange-amber with a small off white head. Aromas ofbread, light citrus, and light spice. Palate was light bodied and dry. Flavors of bread and mild spice with a moderatly bitter finish.

Rating for Morimoto Soba Signature Ale

Dense amber with a wee head that was quickly a white film. Malted & spiced aroma with resin, latent roast nuttiness and slight acrid hopping. Pleasant flavor, malted with a piney/lemony/taffyish middle and a sharp, "zesty" finish (as advertised). Interesting and enjoyable.

Bottle. Coppery colored with a medium white head, with retention and lace. Wheaty, grainy aroma, very malty and not hopcentric. Flavor is smooth and delicious. Good malt balance, and hops finish nicely.

Golden amber with a large white creamy head. Aroma of apricots and bread, with little hops presence. Flavor of toasted bread, a bit of acidic citrusy hops, and apricots, with a nice hops spiciness in the finish. Nice smooth mouth feel - not overly fizzy as in many wheats.

Pours orangish-amber with a small white head and little effervescence. Smells like a nutty lager. Flavor starts off good and nutty, with a great-tasting maltiness, but finishes on what can only be the soba. And I apparently don’t like soba. Different, but not too good. Light and refreshing.

bottle. foggy copper-orange body with a light, small white head. ryeish aroma, some sweet maltiness, and a generally low hop profile. I guess maybe this is what buckwheat is supposed to smell like...light body, perfectly quaffable. moderate spritzy carbonation. malty body. decent.
