Smells like a nutty lager. Flavor starts off good and nutty, with a great-tasting maltiness, but finishes on what can only be the soba. And I apparently don’t like soba. Different, but not too good. Light and refreshing.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 29, 2005 bottle. foggy copper-orange body with a light, small white head. ryeish aroma, some sweet maltiness, and a generally low hop profile. I guess maybe this is what buckwheat is supposed to smell like...light body, perfectly quaffable. moderate spritzy carbonation. malty body. decent. ervan (37), Redwood City, California, USA

A nice balance. I didn’t notice any hop bitterness. Nothing too blow you away though. The feel is kind of thin with an average amount of carbonation. I would drink it again if someone like Indiana_Red handed one to me. Thanks I_R! SSSteve (2056), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 29, 2005 Morimoto Soba Ale - clear yellowish pour with a medium white head that dissipated fast, leaving a white film. Fruity, hoppy aroma. Smells pretty damn good. Nice balance between the malt and hops. Crisp, clean, roasty and hoppy at the same time. The finish is a little thin, and has a tangy bitterness to it. Refreshing, although the tanginess to finish is a little too much. Interesting and well done just the same.
