ChainGangGuy (2522), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA May 17, 2009 22 ounce bomber - $4.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours a lightly hazed copper body with a frothy, foamy, white head.
Smell: Fragrant, delicate nose of fresh flowers, honey-dipped biscuits, fruit, as well as nuts and spice.
Taste: Lightly sweet clover honey stirred up with some crumbled dry biscuits. Curious touch of berry-like fruitiness amidst hints of dried lemon peel and coriander. Small hint of nuts. Floral, spicy hop character with a modest amount of imparted bitterness present. Finishes dry with some lasting honeyish and floral qualities.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Worth at least one try, I’d say. A subtle, pleasant brew simply eager to be paired with a meal of some sorts, say, a plate of trout almondine. WVHouseofBeer (337), Morgantown, West Virginia, USA May 14, 2009 Nice aroma of biscuits and honey, with a small fluffy white head. Little bit of a roasted nut taste to it, with something else as well, I guess the buckwheat? Overall, this was a solid and a unique brew. LC Nejhleader (924), Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, USA May 12, 2009 has a grassy aroma, basically tasted like an average pilsner bit of a grassy taste. Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA May 10, 2009 Draft at BT. Pours a golden body with a white head. Stinky cheese, chewy grains, butter and popcorn. Vegetative, corn batter and grainy malt. Wow what a brew... nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA May 8, 2009 Tap at Rogue Ales Public House in SF. Decent but not great. Nice cloudy golden appearance with an off-white head. Aroma of citrus and other light fruits, sweet malt, grain, and spices. Flavor is pale malt, noodles, citrus fruits, and spices. Medium-light body. DerWeg (748), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 2, 2009 Very tasty ale with unusual fruit tones! The 650ml bottle (Premier) pours a nice-looking fuzzy burnt amber with foamy dense head and very interesting glass laciongs. Looks great! Aroma is warmly spicy (either its the funky grains or perhaps phenols of piespice, clove, pepper) over lemony citrus and fruits like peach and dry apricot and sweet blood orange. Taste follows aroma, with great balance between spice and that comely fruit, and very lovely mouthfeel. A lot going on for a simple summer beer worth sessioning.
