Smells dry and dusty like a wheat beer. More, roasted flavor than I exspected. Light spice, clean finish. Good. omhper (12335), Stockholm, Sweden

The nose is fruty and flowery. Medium dry with fairly light body and clean mouthfeel. There’s some estery bubblegum flavour, low bitterness. An aromatic and very drinkable ale. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 7, 2005 Bottle. Pours a clear light orange color, fluffy white head, good lacing, a few tiny bubbles rising in the beer. Honey, toasty aroma, not particularly strong, but a pleasant scent. Flavor is very sweet, only a slight hop bitterness that I can detect, kind of nutty in the finish. A well rounded toastiness comes in the middle and leads well to the very clean, nutty complementary finish. Definietly unique, I’ve never had a beer that’s anything like this. Body seems a little weaker than medium body I thought it should have, medium carbonation, smooth. This goes well with a light meal, for instance a salad (like I ate tonight), with its clean finish and lighter body. BeerBiker (1392), Kathmandu, Nepal

Hazy dark golden look with no head. Aroma of soba = buckwheat, fruit, walnut, sweet butterscotch. Flavor is similar. Like an ESB, very special, but not that bad. I have to get used to this brew and it will be better next time. frankenkitty (1903), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA

Dense amber with a wee head that was quickly a white film. Malted & spiced aroma with resin, latent roast nuttiness and slight acrid hopping. Pleasant flavor, malted with a piney/lemony/taffyish middle and a sharp, "zesty" finish (as advertised). Interesting and enjoyable.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 17, 2008 12 oz bottle. Unique rare grain aroma. Planty, yet filled with a heavy musk of earth. Light. Pours a straw-gold with a rim of white. Flavor stays on par with aroma. The buckwheat adds a Musli character of whole grain to the beer, with dextrins and proteins to boot. Chewy and deep. The rest of the beer doesn’t really carry this character too well. There’s an oily sensation and a light nut meat. Light finish on airy, pine hops. Not bad, but nothing too special. ericmc83 (200), Arkansas, USA

Light and refreshing. The folks at the Flying Saucer printed out a description from their computer system for me and it said that Soba is a member of the rhubarb family...I was kind of skeptical as to how that would work out, but it’s actually pretty good for a lighter beer in my opinion.
