Big malty beer with a hop blast at the end. Amber with a brown tinge on the pour with an off white head. Really is in between a DIPA and a barleywine. The finish gets a bit crazy on this guy as it gets bitter and dry and lingers for a bit. Not my favorite beer, but worth a drink.

750ml bottle from Crossroads Spirits. Pours a hazy dark golden color with a large foamy white head. Aroma is boozy with notes of sweet citrus, caramel malt, and some spice. Taste is also boozy with lots of older citrus fruit, caramel malt, bitter zest, and pine.

Poured from tap to glass. Honey golden hue with white head that dissipated to a thin layer. Aroma is honey, ethanol, roasted malt, caramel, spicy hops, apricots, raisins. Mouthfeel is thick with a full body and low carbonation. Taste is sweet throughout with a bitterness in the following and a nice ethanol crispness in the finish. Overall, I really enjoyed this beer. Some may find this overly cloying but I actually lean towards full body, residual lot sweet, high ethanol brews.

Hazy bright orange pour with plenty of white head that fades quickly. Aroma is strong of ripe oranges, some alcohol, clove. Flavor is softer oranges, citrus zest, general citrus hops. Probably the best beer I’ve had from Rogue thus far.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle, from Bottle Revolution. Good aroma, sweet. Fruity, yeasty . Mango, apricot, toasty malts, a little off putting what I think of as a burnt plastic scent. Tad hazed golden orange color, ok head and no real lace. Bitter sweet flavor. Thick body, creamy oily mouthfeel, bitter sweet finish. Good, just a hint of a scent and taste I’m not a fan of, but ok in the scheme of things

A big beer. Aroma of aged barleywine, and hops. The hop bitterness was subordinate to the big barleywine. still very drinkable.

On tap at Issaquah Brewhouse. Pours a hazy golden amber color with a medium white head that leaves great lacing. Smells of pine, citrus, mango, toffee and caramel. Tastes of the same things in the smell with a good hop presence. Mouthfeel is oily and creamy with great. Carbonation. I think this is one of the best Rogue beers I’ve ever had. Great triple ipa, strong ale and barley wine flavor all mixed in one and it works. Interested in trying a bottle now of this to see if it’s any different.

Draught at the Rogue Bar in downtown Portland, OR on 23 May 2013. Poured a dark golden colour with a large, dense white head and excellent lacing. Full, hoppy aroma with citrus and grass with some caramel sweetness. Full mouth feel and strong flavours of maple syrup, burnt sugar, flowery hop and cereal. Finish was an alcoholic kick mixed with some toffee and dry, hop bitterness.

Barley wine, DIPA or American Strong? Nice white head on amber. Just a dip of the hoppy foam will start a buzz. Light body is still enough to hold the big alcohol. Nice crystal sweetness. Solid hops. Easy to drink.
