Bottle from Caps & Taps, London - UK. Color: hazy orange amber beer with no carbonation and small white foam. Smell: caramel and caramel malt domination. Really sweet malt domination and alcohol. Toffee notes. Well balanced with grassy and hoppy nose. Very intensive. Taste: full body with sweet oily malt sensation. Caramel and toffee domination. Really sweet beer. Good attenuation with a high resin and hoppy blast. Very intensive. This beer is a cross over between Barley Wine and then an Imperial IPA. Very impressive and high pine and resin finish. Aftertaste: sweet toffee caramel with alcohol finish. Resin and pine finish. Dry bitterness and astringent alcohol.

I really don’t know how to describe this but I do get a lot of bready and nutty elemtns. A little oxidised. What style is this? I’m super confused. Nice bitterness. Well hopped. I’m confused. Nice art though! I did enjoy it but was perplexed.

Quite sweet and malty but then piney, grapefruity in a lingering bitterness. More barley wine to me but that’s besides the point anyway. Pretty strong and sweet. Tough to get down if I’m honest

UPDATED: MAR 29, 2016 Bottle from Wholefoods, Kensington, London. A hazy orange/amber coloured pour with a thin white head on top. Sweet, malty, caramel aroma. Tastes incredibly sweet, almost syrup like, malty, caramel, honey, orange, slight bitterness. This could only be an American beer, really complex, I rather like it. Dial down the sweetness and it would be even better. An interesting barley wine nevertheless.

Pours a one finger cream head that fades slowly to a thin layer leaving some lace. Hazy orange/amber color. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Grapefruit nose and flavor is grapefruit, sour finish more like an IPA than a barleywine. Expensive at $13.99 for a 750ml blue bottle at Bert’s Better Beers Hooksett, NH.

Haven’t been drinking much Rogue recently--though did my share back when they were early on the scene--but this one is very fine. The funky/cutesy name is accurate--more than an IIPA, not quite a barleywine or strong in terms of heaviness in malt and on palate.
Aromas all over the place—leather, caramel, bubblegum, alcohol. may look like an IPA but neither smells or tastes—alcohol, orange peel, pine, caramel—mixed but not clashing, a little wave of sweetness followed by a raspy bitter. Warm, alcoholic finish.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A very interesting, unique beer, very much a cross of an IPA and a barleywine. Pours a beautiful bright cloudy orange with a white head. Smells of tropical fruit, grapefruit, pineapple, along with honey, wild flowers, saltiness, and a butteriness. Taste has lots of creamy butter upfront, with some saltiness, then tropical fruit and wildflower, and a barleywine sharpness in the finish. Quite complex. Had in the bottle.

On tap at the brewery tap Sf. Clouded golden / orange coloured pour with a thick off white froth. Aroma is subdued, solvent, nail polish remover, caramel. And toffee apple. Flavour is composed of harsh grains, toffee, apple, harsh solvent alcohol bite. Palate is semi sweet, frothy, highish carbonation, harsh solvent finish. Not a fan headache inducing.

First off, old crustacean is one of my favorites. Pours a medium golden-copper with thin, white head. Aroma is dank and rough. Flavor is more of the same. Hops are newer varietal with more motor oil than citrus and soapy. Love the fact that they realize most big Ipas could be hoppy barlewines...like 90 minute which is more barley wine than IIPA. Hog heaven when fresh is a better DIPA than most...Beer for though, but I like the concept of this beer
