Nov 10, 2009 750ml bottle poured into a trappist glass produced a nice light tan head with dark amber body. This bottle was the "XS" version of this ale and was in a gray ceramic bottle with spring cap. Taste and aromas of spices, especially pepper, dark fruits, and caramel with a nice warming burn of alcohol. Very pleasant and enjoyable.

Nov 6, 2009 Draft at Mellow Mushroom Pensacola. Dark brown tan head. Sweet, very malty, alcohol up front, thick palate. Easy to drink.

Muddy red-brown, nearly headless after the thin yellow ring dissipates. Malt-heavy nose of wood, brown sugar, and raisin. Heavy sugar and alcohol in the flavor, charred raisin and burnt wood. Not pleasant. Thin, sticky body, heavy salt at the front. Not easy, not pleasant, not again.

Oct 30, 2009 2008 vintage from ceramic 750ml- pours a burnt red/brown hue with a very frothy head. Nose- pine and caramel. Taste- spicy, sweet breads, cookie dough initially, quickly followed by a wallop of hops upside the head. Very aggresive hops really take over after the initial malt sweetness and body to a thin, very bitter finish. I don’t mind it- a change from an overly sweet and syrupy barleywine. A kick in the ass every now and then never hurts, but not an every day beer.

Oct 24, 2009 Deep, dark red. Spicy and intense aroma. Caramel and Toffee malt flavor and tropical fruit hop aroma. The alcohol is not detectable. The mouthfeel is awesome. A very intense flavor, yet not over the top/ .

Oct 20, 2009 On tap @ RnH. Pour is dark orange. Sweet cherry and hop aroma.. you can smell the heat of the alcohol. Noticed a decent amount of strawberry flavors, which I usually don’t notice. Raisins, brown sugar, pacman hop (?) and delicious alcohol.

Oct 20, 2009 Draft sample at RnH in NYC. Pours a dark orange body. Aroma is spicy perfume, hop, and fruit. Taste is not as bitter as the aroma would suggest with a standard mouthfeel followed by a bitter finish. You can really taste that PacMan yeast! PacMan Yeast!
