on tap. Dark red in color with a creamy off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt. Full bodied with a sticky texture and bitter finish. Moderately sweet as well as heavily bitter. Plenty of malt and hops in this create an intense complex flavor. A standout among barleywines.

Nice mild dark aroma, has a good dark fruit taste, some malt blended well with pine hops, alcohol hidden well.

2012 bottle. Pours a rusty orange, with pretty much no head. Aroma of grapefruit, cooked pineapple, bread, caramel, pine, and a bit of dried fruit. Taste is bitter grapefruit (pith and all), malt, dried fruit, and an earthy herbal note. Medium mouthfeel. Finish is astringent bitterness like chewing on a citrus peel. This is tasty and intense, but seems like more of a malt-heavy DIPA than a barleywine. Hope you like grapefruit.

On tap at O’Riley & Conways, apparently they were supposed to serve this in an 8oz glass, the bartender was new and poured a full 20oz glass, waaaaaaay to much of this stuff, pours a murky dark brown with a light brown head, the aroma is huge with tons of sweetness and malt, almost too much going on, the flavor has a ton of sweetness on the front end with malt and caramel with a little bit of hops in the finish, the abv isn’t hidden at all and the mouthfeel is very sticky and full, almost a chore to get through this, we ended up leaving about half in the glass when we left, just too much.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Taster on tap at Ei8ht Ball. Mostly clear, quite red color. Little off-white head. Whoa, big malt on this. First sip is a wave of toasty, spicy, tropical fruity flavors. Caramel, spicy, toffee aromas... Some earthy, lightly tropical fruity hops. Moderate to bigger bitter taste, and the sweetness that’s there is a bit cloying. Bigger body. Smooth, kind of crisp, lighter carbonation. Lightly slick. Aside from the taste (big bitter and sweetness in a not that great way), alcohol is well hidden -- no burn or bite, and minimal warmth. Seeing some of the bitter orange peel pointed out by chuckaduck. Solid one to try, but not one that I’d intentionally age (I doubt this is a super-fresh example) and repeat again to enjoy for myself.

2010 tiny bottle. Typical barleywine nose and appearance. Decently hoppy still with a bit of booziness and bitter taste that creeps up at the end. Thanks for aging this for me MGM liquors!

Smells of citrus and pine. Tastes fuller than it smells with hints of sweet barley and a hoppy finish. On tap @ Issaquah brewhouse.

2011 Bottle shared with my bro. Aroma of pine, burnt malts, and brown sugar. Pours a little hazy brown with a nice white head and good carbonation. Taste is pine, rye, sold malt presence and a dry sugary finish. Clean and hoppy even after a couple years. Great barleywine.
