Bottle at LCRBM3. Dark semi-cloudy amber colour with a bubbly head. Very hoppy and alcoholic all round with some nice straw and caramel. Huge dollop of alcohol in the finish. Fairly decent. bierkoning (5987), La Tropica, Netherlands Sep 10, 2007 Updated: Feb 18, 20083rd LCRBM. Malty aroma with grapes. Fruity sweet flavor, roasty with alcohol, wood and porto. Burning mouthfeel, due to the alcohol.
Bottle shared @ jbrus’s place.
Out of the hectic open air session and tasted in the quietness of jbrus’s home I had to add two points. 2006 bottle. Porto aroma with raisin and a flowery and earthy bitterness. Firm oily and flowery hopbitter flavor, lingering on in the long aftertaste. jbrus (4835), Delft, Netherlands Sep 9, 2007 Bottle@LCRBM. Malty, floral and raisin aroma. Hazy, brown color, beige head, fair lace. Sweet, raisin, bitter, floral, fruity. Sticky and full. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Updated: Mar 8, 2009

mikey (336), farmington, Utah, USA Aug 30, 2007 Poured a near opaque ruby-brown color with an off white head. The nose is an sublime mix of moist caramel malt, alcohol and grapefruit. Taste began with hop bitterness, followed by a clean alcohol washing of the tongue. Nice bready, caramel maltiness mixed in with subtle strawberry shortcake, plum, raisin and overly ripe fruits. The end is moderatly piney. This is in that grey area between an Imperial Pale ale and barleywine. Expecting one or the other may change your opinion. Lack of hop balance made this an average barley wine. padrefan98 (787), (San Diego) Santee, California, USA Aug 27, 2007 12 oz bottle shared with toncatcher. Not the best barley wine I have ever had but it was good. KieferUGA (461), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Aug 25, 2007 2006 vintage. 750 ml ceramic bottle. Aroma of hops and sweet molasses. Pours a dark leather color with a thin, white head. Mouthfeel was very bitter to start. Hints of caramel and a bit of spice. Beer is nice and thick as it goes down. Warm alcohol taste brings this bad boy home. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA Aug 25, 2007 12 oz bottle from 2002 shared with toncatcher. Lot’s of dark sweet fruit on the aromas. Some alcohol in the aromas too. Murky brown with almost no head. Flavors were very good. More raisin, molasses, toffee. Coffee flavor then alcohol on the finish. Pretty good stuff.
