jgentgesdo (564), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Apr 15, 2007 Pours translucent deep ruby with a medium tan head. Nose is caramel, dates, molasses, and sharp hops. The flavor begins with a powerful candied date and irish cream (?) that quickly turns into overwhelmingly harsh and almost painful bitterness, along with powerful hops aroma carried by the alcohol into your nose. Thick, oily, ongoing bitter mouthfeel and aftertaste. Alcohol very evident. Good, but should be allowed to age longer. Doctormirk (100), USA Apr 11, 2007 On tap at the Stone World Bistro, sat out in the gardens and enjoyed this one. Thick and smoky-hazy. Lots of dark fruits. Very hoppy. Chocolaty, caramel malts. Sweet, syrupy and intense but mellowed at the same time. Overall a very big and quite enjoyable brew. RCL (1443), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA Apr 7, 2007 On tap. Aroma is candied red fruit and banana with an explosion of bubble gum. Taste is bubble gum with some cough-syrupy fruits. Funky. cab (861), Denmark Apr 6, 2007 Updated: Apr 3, 2009[Sampled at Beermouth’s Rogue tasting at Vinens Verden.] Bottle. I love this barly wine, so sweet so bitter, this is art. 4-3-2009 drinking a 2006.....this is extreme just bitter and stong absolut no sweetnes, fantastik. wingman333 (233), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Apr 4, 2007 Pours dark, cloudy, tastes like coffee at first with a bitter chalky residue which later allows some of the flavors to take shape on the tongue. Aftertaste is grape soda-like. This only sat on my shelf for a week so it may age better. Brown muddy look with slight brown head. Aroma of roasted sweetness. Flavor is more hoppy, than sweet for the style. Some kind of roasty bitterness which suits this beer great. A true quality beer. A stouty barley!! sfhodense (554), Odense NØ, Denmark Apr 2, 2007 Bottle. Reddish amber with orange head. Some caramel and hops in the flavour. Very bitter hops, but the sweetness from the malt gives it some balance. This beer should be stored for some years. I think it will be a lot better them. Alldaydrinker (557), Norwood, Massachusetts, USA Mar 29, 2007 Updated: Oct 25, 2007Pours a very slight if but no head. The Aroma is awesome, you can easily depict the chocolate and dark fruits. Pouring a nice dark brown to orange brown color. The taste is very complex, with a coffee, caramel, slightly after taste of chocolate on the back of your pallete. Palate duration is perfect, absolutely awesome. Its best aged to one year. This bottle was a 2006 and unknown of exact age.
