Ceramic 75 cl bottle from Systembolaget. Hazy mahogny, medium beige head. Malty and caramelly with a slightly rough hoppines. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Very bitter, a little too much actually.

I was once told by and good drinking buddy of mine that Old Crusty was Evil in a Bottle. Now DonYounger calls him the TreeHugger. Rusty brown head on top of the muddiest brown malt toughness you’ve ever seen. Hopp aroma to burn off your nose hairs. The first BW I’ve ever had. I thought all BWs were all like this. I wish. Hop bitterness is the ultimate palate killer. A condensed BREWER. Thank you John for getting me to the next level with this beer!

2007 Ceramic bottle. Pours dark, dark brown with a very large head. Excellent lacing. Strong aroma of brown sugar and dark fruits. The hops come on a bit too strong, lending to a bitter taste. It is balanced out a bit on the back end.

Chocolate and alcohol nose. Light Hazy brown color, no head, softr carbonation. Coffee taste with strong pockering hoppy intervalls. Long lasting. Nice, alcohol stays behind. RERATE - Vintage 1995 in 2005 - 10y/o BWs Vertical Tasting: Dark bronw with some ruby color, no head, oily looking. Roasted malt and coffe beans nose also tart and peat, medium intense. Herbal and flowery short kick with weak coffee finish. Very flat and like motor oil.

This is the closest to an actual ruby color of any of the barleywines I've had so far.. It's a little light on the head. and has a bitter, hoppy finish, but the there's enough malt in the body to suggest that this better could handle aging for another year or so very well.

Dark brown in color. A bit of citrus in the nose. Some earthy malt with harsh alcohol heat. Not one of their better beers.

2001 bottle - sharp and harsh. The malts are roasty but sweet with a strong cherry flavor. The IBU is strong - 120 - but unsatisfying. Any hope of balance is gone - I would expect this in an IPA, but not barleywine. Call me unimpressed.
