3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Summits Wayside Tavern...Dark black, opaque pour with a creamy tan head...Aroma was mainly coffe...Flavor was dominated by roasted malt flavors with some coffee...Body seemed not necessarily thin but not as full as one might expect...Slightly sour towards the finish...Decent but not great

Undated notes: This beer has an interesting flavor and aroma to it. Dark and roasty and sweet with some nice briney hints. I liked this one!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 oz. bottle. Pours black with a light brown head. Smells of blackened malts and mild coffee. Medium bodied with a smooth, oily mouthfeel. Nice blackened malt and dark bread flavor with a ever so slight briney, oyster flavor. This brew finishes bone dry and is unlike other Rogue stouts that I’ve quaffed. March 2005

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours a deep black body with a small fizzy ring of mocha head. The aroma is reasonably hoppy with chewy chocolatey roast and toffee. Very assertive bitterness, faint chocolate along the middle and finishes with bittersweet chocolate roast and lingering hops. Thanks for the opportunity Harry!

[262-20070413] 650mL (c/o HogTownHarry, w/ him, blankboy, jerc, mds, tupalev). Sweet aromatic fruit background with a light yeast up front and a chocolate malt base. Rich dark brown black body with a quick bubbly tan head. Very dark roast coffee malt flavour with spruce notes. Full bitter body is thinner than expected. An interesting combination.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle (650ml) shared with HogTownHarry, jerc, mabel, mds & tupalev -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a very dark brown with an average size light-brown head. Aroma of lightly roasted malt, chocolate and hops. Flavour of roasted malt, chocolate and light hops -- a little watery. Medium bodied. Not great but still a good Stout.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared with Blankboy, Hogtown Harry, Jerc, Mds, and Mabel, Harry’s bottle. This is crazy - a Rogue with only 40+ ratings and here we are 6 Canadians sharing this bomber. Cheers to ratebeer trading (Dark Elf to Harry!). Very dark brown, small dark brown head. Nice chocolate aroma - very sweet. Taste features more sweet chocolate, some bitterness, both hops and roast. Good stuff - pretty similar to Shakespeare except sweeter.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Black body, moderate fluffy brown head fades. Muted roast, dark bitter chocolate, light malt in the aroma. Flavour feels a bit muted, dry roasty/dark chocolate bitterness, light note of chalky cocoa. Average palate. Meh, decent enough but does not do much for me.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle (650ml). Shared with blankboy, jerc, mabel, mds and tupalev - my bottle via trade with DarkElf - DarkElf+ Fest ’07!!. Poured thick deep brown, small brown creamy head. Smell - roast! deep, oily, nutty, burnt motor oil roast, bitter hops - nice. Taste - a little past it, perhaps, overly bitter and roasty, to the point of harshness, but definitely roasty. Thick body, bitter and astringent, long burnt aftertaste - wow that smells nice, glad to have had it.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
black body, medium brown head..aroma is large in lactose and roasted malts, as well as some caramel, nuts, and vanilla...flavor is that of a roasted porter (largely dark chocolate/cocoa and bitter coffee beans)..nice stuff
