3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pint at the Rogue pub in Portland. Dark black body but with some light present, and a light brown head. Very light nose of sweet chewy grains and matly notes. Taste is the same - although very smooth on the palate - thereís a chewy caramel and maple underlying sweetness to this one, with only a very light roasted grains and smoke presence. Iíve had better. Not characteristic of Rogue quality.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
tap at the saucer in addison. pours black with a grey head. not much aroma to this, a bit dusty, but nothing really hits me. taste is watery with a light roast and a good acidic bitter finish. leaves a chalky mouthfeel and a light bit of sweetness, but the bite dominates that. an easy to drink beer.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at the Brickskeller in DC. Pours dark...looked almost black. Coffee, vanilla, and nutty flavors dominate this beerís flavor but most notable to me is the thin somewhat watery mouthfeel. Pretty easy to drink, although this is nothing spectacular.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
I just dont get Rogue. After having tried 20 or so of their beers I have come to realize that it is pretty much a crapshoot as to whether or not I will like it or not. For example I thoroughly enjoy the mocha porter and the old crustacean, yet have yet to fathom why anyone would want to drink that juniper crap. This one hear lands in the middle, promising looks, yet, weak in flavor with a finish reminiscent of numerous other unremarkable rogue beers. But Iíll continue to drink them because... well... every once in awhile I find a good one.
